Ever watch a product demo or a musical instrument instruction video? Is it just me, or do those things remind you of bad porn? I just watched the Sonic State (http://www.sonicstate.com/news/shownews.cfm?newsid=1058) demo of the Korg Electribe MX, and I've seen my little brother's Danny Gottlieb drumming video, and in both, the player/demonstrator guy seems to be molesting the instrument more than playing it. Plus, the video is about porn-grade, and the guys invariabley have really hairy arms and look way too concentrated on what they're doing.

When I was first learning to play the guitar, my then-boyfriend loaned me a lot of "how to strum the day away for beginners" films starring meaty, hairy virtuosos. He'd always rib me about "you only watch these because this mutant Fabio beastman is the instructor" and then laugh and laugh. Maybe this is a factor in why I still can't switch chords w/anything resembling speed or dexterity.

But seriously, yeah, gross. In the Danny Gottlieb drum video he actually put the stick to the ride cymbal in the same exact manner as some no-name porn guy puts his finger to this girl's butt in some nasty compilation vid I had in 9th grade.
