Ok, both have tons of stuff they do, both can be had for $99.99 + shipping, and both could fit comfortably between the cheeks of my ass.

I already have the Ineko, and I'm kinda jonesing to spend a hundred bucks on something neat and small that does cool stuff, what does the Pandora have to offer? Anybody?

Also, Millar, how you liken' that Ineko you got on Friday?

Don't expect much apart from jarring trebley phase effects and godawful reverbs of boyous signal loss. That said, if you are using them for live stuff they're perfectly ok. /snob

i used to love Lofi multi-effects boxes, they are excellent as a first step to let you try out a range of effects before buying more specialised stuff later. The Zoom 1201 was one of the first things I bought, it cost £100, and in addition to your standard reverb, delay, flange and chorus effects, also has an Envelope filter, Vocoder, Ring Modulator, pitch shifter and more. Very rough and ready, but allowed for much experimentation and taught me a lot about how the basics.

I really envy the possibilities for the beginner now with all the free plug-ins available for computers. But I still like to have dedicated boxes, shomhow there is something more gratifying about having a knob to twiddle with(!)

Hardly anything on the market is 'dedicated' anymore - with digital it's no longer economic. Unless you want to pony up for an Electro-Harmonix something-or-other, everything else is basically available in a nice digital modelling format with a bunch of knobs and a price set at about half what you would have paid three years ago, even.

I still have my Yamaha E1010 delay -though to be honest I haven't used it seriously in years.

I no longer buy any effects basically because I have no spare money these days. But when I did, I had a bit of a boutique guitar pedals addiction. This is an area where you can still buy dedicated effects (if you can afford them). Stuff like http://www.lovetone.com/ (no longer making pedals :-( ) or http://www.zvex.com/ make superb sounding analogue effects (if you have the money) Analogue effects still have a different sound to digital effects, and are also more unpredictable which can help creative flow.)

It all depends on what you want to do, but if you save up some extra cash you can get a nice low end or used piece of rack gear that will in the end probably do more than the little boxes. A used Lexicon MPX100, which maybe could be found used for $50 bucks more will dust either of those boxes.

That being said, those Alesis Nanoeffect boxes are pretty nice for the price, especially the compressor one. I've seen them used for about $40-50 bucks.
