Does feminism discourse begin and end with Mick Hucknell?

After leafing through Q today I came across a 20 questions with Mick Hucknell who's image and songs I had cleared out of my mind for quite some time. However, Mick was going on about all the women he's shagged and I'm wondering... do chicks have a 'superficial' gene that has yet to be discovered but which make them shag ugly rich man (c.f. Hugh Hefner, Rod Stewart, Gene Simmons) or rich arrogant fuckheads (the cast of Poison, Guns n Roses, Def Leopard etc etc). I mean, it's not like you see guys at S Club 7 concerts hanging around back stage gagging for it.

Mick Hucknell - a tosser, but a tosser who pulls a lot on account of a loaded wallet.

one month passes...
Your logic is profound and infallible. You are completely 100% correct. Women are shallow, vindictive creatures. Burn them! All!

Superficial "genes" are the exclusive domain of women. Men aren't EVER shallow or superficial. Especially not Hugh Hefner. Or Rod Stewart. Both of these men are celebrated thinkers. The reason they assemble small armies of surgically enhanced blonde ladyclones is not because these women are beautiful (in a lad mag defined way). No! Or because they want to have lots of meaningless sex! No! These ladies are kept for the sole purpose of in depth brain shaking debates. These men (like all men) are incredibly deep, they need never resort to petty generalisations or unsubstantiated claims. They (like all men) are intellectual giants. Women are sluts determined on castrating men. And they are (insert age old cliché here). All of them. And what are they doing in politics! Too emotional, get them out.

And don't get me started on bitches getting the vote.

Some further reading for you darling: http://www.schryer.com/homophobia/

pronk, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 02:01 (twenty-three years ago)

pronk you moron, calum was trying to make a serious point there - like he does on the Films board

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 10:49 (twenty-three years ago)

It's the same with Paul Daniels.... I mean, there's no way he'd pull a corker like Debbie McGee if he worked as a binman, is there, Calum?

russ t, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 10:58 (twenty-three years ago)

is Paul Daniels the very epitomy of an ass-goblin?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 11:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Micky boy seems to show that excess money and fame = fanny magnet, regardless of how ugly and/ or stupid you are. Hef shows the same thing really.

I hate to rain on Pronk's parade (the guy now seems to think I'm a homophobe for some dumb reason as well - wot a cock) but without these surgically enhanced pretty young blondes to fawn all over them Hef and Rod Stewart would not be in a position to have their ego massaged. These girls can always say "no" to them can't they? How many young men now hang around Bridget Bardot?

Calz (Calz), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 11:31 (twenty-three years ago)

male moguls, svengalis, entertainment or art icons and rock stars...all appealing to many young women, particularly those too attractive to be really good at anything else and conditioned to value attention and materialistic worth above all else - the male power figures are both able and willing, desperate even, to provide those things to those women seemingly incapable of asserting their own true independence and talents. just glorified groupies you might say...

interesting that it does not seem to occur half as much the other way round - perhaps too many mean fear/resent women with that 'power'. still the likes of Joan Collins have had their curiously young boyfriends/husbands in recent years. is it all really just about using each other to further your own half baked career aspirations? is that really worth sleeping with a senior citizen for?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 11:52 (twenty-three years ago)

i actually think pronk's point was more moronic thatn calum's... where was there anything homophobic in that post...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 11:54 (twenty-three years ago)

if you take some of the letters used by calum in his first post you can make up the phrase 'i hate gays'

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 11:56 (twenty-three years ago)

ok - calum you bastard!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 11:58 (twenty-three years ago)

However, Mick was going on about all the women he's shagged

whereas all calum ever seems to do on here is go on about all the women he'd LIKE to shag...

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 12:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Also there is the inetersting point of Joan Collins-style young husbands... however, isn't it true to say that more women do in reality fancy older blokes than men fancy older women and that's it more socially acceptable too... also I don't think shagging Barbara WIndsor would really help your career much, but it might make you very rich when you divorce her or she dies... or hell, maybe they're all very happy and in love... not impossible...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 12:02 (twenty-three years ago)

whereas all calum ever seems to do on here is go on about all the women he'd LIKE to shag...

Calum's girlfriends = Mick's exes

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 12:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I doubt any young women really fancy Hugh Hefner or Mick Hucknall. I find it weird that women will now proclaim how sexy Fred Durst, Chris Martin, the Gallaghers etc are when to anyone with two eyes you just know they are in fact really, really ugly. I don't grudge them their fun with the likes of Paltrow because, let's face it, before Gwyneth and before fame Chris would have been humping some really ugly birds. But it does make you think about things - females do seem to become irrationally, uncontrollably WET over men when they suddenly have some degree of fame. Bizarre.

Eminem actually spoke about hating it when he started off. He was like "wow, I was never able to get laid and now all these women want me? How fucked up". I hate Eminem but I think my position would be the same - I mean, I really don't think Chris Martin's bird would look twice at me (or him!) or anyone who isn't loaded with fame and cash.

Calz (Calz), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 13:01 (twenty-three years ago)

if more women thought like you Calum, NO-ONE would be having sex

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 13:22 (twenty-three years ago)

that is to say, your fixation on the likes of Emma Bunton and Holly Valance stems from the fact they are merely conventionally attractive/sexy/whatever (as opposed to particularly interesting), whereas the fixation on the likes of Mick Hucknall and Hugh Hefner by young attractive girls is due to their fame and power...tho ironically with Mick managing to lure moderately successful women like Catherine Zeta Jones and Martine McCutcheon in recent years there must be something else i.e. you wouldnt expect them to fall for him on looks terms OR success terms considering they were doing pretty well in general...maybe he charmed them into submission with his knowledge of Italian cinema?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 13:26 (twenty-three years ago)

or his knowledge of old dub records... then again, maybe he's hung like a giraffe too

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 13:43 (twenty-three years ago)

But Holly Valance is interesting - in the video to 'Naughty Girl' she manages to do a Sharon Stone in 'Basic Instinct' and not show her pink parts in the process! Let's see you manage that!

And she knows how to wiggle.

Calz (Calz), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 14:13 (twenty-three years ago)

...is it just me, or does anyone else have the distinct impression that Calum will more than likely be dating a Waynetta Slob lookylikey?

Or maybe some Myra Hindley-haired hairdresser who, in certain lights, looks like a younger Jo Brand?

No-one who actually HAS something like Holly Valance at home ever talks like this in my experience....

russ t, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 14:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I hope you all die (except pronk).

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 14:19 (twenty-three years ago)

No-one who actually HAS something like Holly Valance at home ever talks like this in my experience....

how many people do you know who are really going out with someone like holly valance?

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 14:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I hope you all die (except pronk).

you hurt me. in my ass.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 14:27 (twenty-three years ago)

...thankfully nobody (who would want to?!).

However, my mate Dave once had a girlfriend who looked uncannily like Linda Lusardi.

It didn't last long.

russ t, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 14:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Russ you are king cock. Read my past threads and you'll know my current situation.

Stop being a prick, just coz you are a misogynistic twat face who, from the sounds of your posts, is desperately unsure of his own sexuality. Sort yourself out before you pass comment on others.

Calz (Calz), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 20:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Calum why are you so interested in wanking to such vapid gold-digging snooze-hounds? doesn't that make you just as "superficial"?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 20:45 (twenty-three years ago)

does anybody else see the grim grim humor in calling somebody a "misogynistic twat face"?

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 20:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, it's pretty obvious innit?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 20:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Imagine if the twat face actually existed. I would make a fortune in face panties.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 21:04 (twenty-three years ago)

but what about facial yeast? (erm, sorry, this isn't like me)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 21:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Ally is this where I mention "boodie ketchup"?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 21:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Misogynist - when ILMers actually grasp the meaning of this word I'll be very, very impressed.

Calz (Calz), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 23:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Calz -
if there were awards for the funniest, most hysterical post I've read on here - I'd present you with one myself.

Because you're worth it.

"misogynistic twat face".... absolutely classic. You should be on the stage.

We could throw housebricks at you, then.

russ t, Wednesday, 21 May 2003 08:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Mick Hucknall is not very interesting.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 08:47 (twenty-three years ago)

seven months pass...
I think of this point every time I'm in a club and some slapper ends up falling for a drunk rugby guy in a designer shirt.

P.S. I know this makes me bitter and/ or misogynistic but I'm neither.
