Great slept-on albums of recent times S/D

We've all got albums we adore but that for one reason or another appear to have received next to no critical acclaim. There appear to have been quite a few recently, too, especially Raphael Saadiq's gorgeous Instant Vintage in my book. Anyone else want to set the world to rights?

I was debating on whether or not to pick up 'Instant Vintage', hopefully the shop by me still has it 30%off.
I'll add 'The Produce Aisle LP' by Burnt Batch, which was almost impossible NOT to sleep on since I don't think it was ever released on CD. My man Pismo did the beats, scratches, and emcees. Nothing too ground-breaking, just great West Coast independent hip-hop.

Men's Recovery Project, "Bolides Over Basra"

- Hell yeah, how great is this record!? Black comedy for 2003 made four years ago!

The new Jelinek is really pretty great, but I've heard nary a word about it anywhere.

Clarke B., Sunday, 20 April 2003 04:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Fumiya Tanaka - "Unknown Possibility Vol 2".

This thread may well lack a certain necessary ground of shared experience. I mean, I haven't heard of any of the above records, and no-one's heard this one either.

No matter how much praise gets put on "Geogaddi" by Boards of Canada, it isn't as good as Bola's "Fyuti". Not to knock BOC, but this Bola album is excellent.

Kenan, "Like Weather" was I think in the NME top 20 of 1998.

The Russian Futurists' two albums, especially this year's Let's Get Ready to Crumble. (Link: my rubbish 'thoughts' on the album.)

Cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 20 April 2003 19:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh. Well, us Americans didn't get the news, I guess. Pity, that.
