I haven't heard any Tim McGraw (not even Indian Outlaw!) except for that "Let's Make Love" song he did with Faith Hill. I'm sure I'm missing something.

Every artist ever reviewed by The Wire.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Sunday, 20 April 2003 02:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I didn't clue in to Morphine until it was too late. I was aware fo them, but I really didn't know what they were about. Always got them confused with Codeine, whom I knew I didn't like. Then I got The Night sent to me when it came out (jeez, that was like my first year of serious rock-write, wasn't it? what was that, 2000?). I immediately cottoned to it, and HAD to get the whole back catalogue.

the bevis frond

I haven't heard his music, but I once saw him on the long-running tv quiz show 'Countdown'. Being bantered by Richard Whiteley.

James Ball (James Ball), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 06:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Lotsa jazz. Lotsa classical.

Oh, and Pearl Jam. Yes, I have heard Ten a couple times, and both times I asked the person who played it, "Hey, what is this?" and that person looked at me like I was covered in green mayonnaise.

Tad, James, go out and buy the Frond's New River Head. Not because Nick Saloman is such a good guy, but because Ned likes it!

Nina Simone until today.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 07:29 (twenty-three years ago)

eight years pass...

Bruce Cockburn. His LPs choke the used bins. Worth investigating? I know nothing about him except that he's Canadian (I think?).

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 18:22 (fourteen years ago)

Ah yes, Bruce Cockburn. A bit earnest and preachy at times, but he's fine if you like socially committed singer-songwriters. "If I Had A Rocket Launcher" is great, as is "Lovers In A Dangerous Time". There's a 'best of' called Waiting for a Miracle or something which contains all you need.
