ALD explains the principle (if a certain website was a band, what would that band sound like?) - your contributions below....

New York London Paris Munich - not a band, but a 3cd compilation released in a plain cardboard slip on Psion-Ist Records. The comp. showcases unheard of European indie bands doing remixes of the tracks that appeared on the parent compilation, "The Superhits of Glitch!"

Well, if Senior Citizen was a band, it would sound like Aphex Twin remixing the Dads Army theme!!!!!!

I don't think even I am prepared to speculate on how a band called "Elidor" would most likely sound ...

The original link is long-dead, but it lives on in the internet archive:
https://web.archive.org/web/20010329165421/http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~tewing/loafer/loaf0026.html

It links to the blog of a chap called Fred Solinger, who apparently used to post on Ilxor many many years ago:
"I'm A Slave 4 U": Preliminary Classic Or Dud

That post is ""I'm A Slave 4 U": Preliminary Classic Or Dud". From 07 September 2001. The posters seem to have taken a four-week break after 11 September as a mark of respect. The song has 163m Youtube views so I think it's fair to say that it was indeed a classic.

http://seniorcitizen.blogspot.com/ on the other hand lasted until 2009. Old Fart!!! had a habit of ending every sentence with multiple exclamation marks!!! I can't tell if it was a self-aware parody of tabloid newspaper writing or not!! But even if it was, it was irritating!!! And the man kept it up for nine years! The blog has the classic, melancholic pattern whereby the first year has 400 posts, the second has 140, the next 40, then 12, then it skips years and stops!!! And every sentence ends with either dot-dot-dot or !!!!, and I'm not exaggerating:

"Now, this is a bit sad!!!!!! We've already mentioned people doing really sad things with Lego, like Lego album covers and Lego video nasties!!!!!!! But now Lego themselves have topped it all by merging one sad tradition with another to come up with what some folks might term to be "something completely different"!!!!!!!!! If they're complete pillocks!!!!!!!

Yes, I am of course talking about those young whippersnappers who decide to propel themselves up every right-thinking person's nostril by reciting sketches from Monty Python!!!!!!!!!! And the people who find it just as funny the 24 bazillionth time they've heard it!!!!!!!!!!! So wot do Lego do but give us, but Monty Python and the Holy Grail- The Lego Version!!!!!!!!! I ask you!!!!!!!!! What is the world coming to?!?!??!

Mind you, having though about it, maybe Lego are extracting tha urine in a very subtle way!!!!! After all the Lego People figures have a daft fixed grin- just like the prannets who re-enact Monty Python sketches 36 gazillion times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

That's an entire post!! I wonder how long that person remained on Ilxor. I have the impression his seed would have fallen on infertile ground.

On the positive side one of the posts links to this piece by the New York Times about the rise of "Web logs", which grows more melancholic with each passing decade:
