plastic letters

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

'x offender' and 'one way or another' not on the 'greatest hits' LP = a travesty. although i think this was sorted on later hits comps.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

All first four albums in their entirity.

Andrew Frye (paul cox), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Bermuda Triangle Blues (Flight 45) from Plastic Letters.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew's got the right idea. You should be able to find all the albums cheap anyway, plus you need those album covers!

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

most of Eat to the Beatand some of Autoamerican....

'shayla' from eat to the beat. not rare but seemingly forgotten about.

stirmonster, Tuesday, 17 June 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

half of plastic letters leaves you wanting more, whereas the whole album is one or two things too much (ie "I'm on E" is lame, yet cd bonus tracks "Cautious Lip" & "Poets Problem" seem essential for a proper ending)

but yeah, to hell with greatest hits\ songs when it's such a consistent band right through the pre-superstardom period, just go and buy the (mostly mid price) cds

"English Boys"

Angels on the Balcony

bahtlobomy, Wednesday, 18 June 2003 00:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know the name of it, but the song talks about tons of hardened steel ... know it? Tell me the title? Please?

bflaska, Wednesday, 18 June 2003 01:22 (twenty-two years ago)

"A Shark in Jet's Clothing", which not only has a snazzy syntho-sleaze riff that builds to a hell of a surfabilly apocalypse finish, but as pointed out by JBR is the probable inspiration for the melody of the theme to "Mr. Show".

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Blondie really needed to do a bit more creepy greaser beatnik West Side Story stuff, for real

"The Hardest Part"

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 03:36 (twenty-two years ago)

"The Hardest Part" -- that's it, thanks Jody (I found the lyrics online -- hard push to that song, memorable after decades of not hearing it, sign of a good one)

bflaska, Friday, 20 June 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Is "Kung Fu Girls" on it? If "Kung Fu Girls" isn't invited to the party then I'm stayin' home

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Friday, 20 June 2003 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Word.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 20 June 2003 23:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I wouldn't stay home... maybe just show up a little late.

Sean (Sean), Friday, 20 June 2003 23:40 (twenty-two years ago)

"Rifle Range" is one o' my faves.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 20 June 2003 23:43 (twenty-two years ago)

"Look Good in Blue."

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 20 June 2003 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

"Living in the Real World" !

Sean (Sean), Friday, 20 June 2003 23:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Seconding "Angels On The Balcony" - always thought that would have been a good one for Siouxsie's Through The Looking Glass

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Saturday, 21 June 2003 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
is there really a blondie song called 'i'm on e'
from the early 1980's ?

piscesboy, Thursday, 18 September 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes. It's on Plastic Letters, I think.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 18 September 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

"Accidents Never Happen (in a Perfect World)"

"English Boys" and "I Know But I Don't Know"

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 21 April 2005 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

There's some live footage that I probably saw on VH1's "Behind the Music" or something that featured them playing material from the first two records, but with much more...er...raw power than is evidenced on those recodings. I'd love to hear some earlier live stuff of that nature surface.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 21 April 2005 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

"Scenery" may be the most underappreciated Blondie song ever. "T-Birds" a close second. All the early demos are fabulous as well.
