I want to have this album administered intravenously!

I mean, I waste SO MUCH MUSIC by letting it drift around in the air. Or even the sticky drops that drip down my earlobes when I listen to it on headphones are a waste of gorgeousness that I cannot tolerate. I want to have this music injected into my very head!

kate (kate), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

it would be 'in vein' tho

dave q, Wednesday, 18 June 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Right now, for me, it is Spiritualized Complete Works Volume One. There is not a track on here that I could not put on endless repeat. (OK, except for the EKR counting bollocks, but that is easily skipped.) If you could have music injected directly into your brain to avoid wasting one gorgeous note, what album(s) would be your first choice? We're talking BEYOND headphone music.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

brain radio...its only ten years away...

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Dizzee Rascal - Boy In Da Corner right now...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean, if the Weekly World News can come up with this:

http://tv.yahoo.com/news/wwn/20030612/105543000004.html

I want SPZ on a USB port into my head! Is that too much to ask?

kate (kate), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Though I am sure that The Man would surely come up with some nefarious "copy protection" sort of imbecility which would prevent me from enjoying music through my brainport. :-(

Hell, I mean, I would like to have Jason Pierce connected to my brain by an electronic umbilical chord of sorts, but I think HSA would probably object.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

the thing is, when you imagine hearing sound, would hearing it internally really be any different? perhaps its possible to make the brain think it is processing sound from an external source but with the difference in air quantity i'm not sure. sorry i have no real grasp of the science here but its fun to think about.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

the shaggs!

doom-e, Wednesday, 18 June 2003 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I always knew that when the brain could be wired tocomputer and the internet, Kate would be the first to know about it!

Catty, Wednesday, 18 June 2003 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Perception - both of sound and vision - is so much in the brain, and in interpretation of external stimuli (HSA to thread!!!) that it would be interesting to see what kind of tricks you can play on the brain using direct neural input. Forget quadraphonic or surroundsound - BRAINRADIO is where the future is!

kate (kate), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

all back to kate's brain

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha ha, there's a party in my brain, and none of you are invited!

kate (kate), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Braidio.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

No, really, in The Future, how will people listen to music?

kate (kate), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

grebt thread, wasnt "virtual light" by w. gibson about this? virtual pop stars to thread??

hearing music will be similiar to a drug trip? sounds as colors, shapes

kephm, Wednesday, 18 June 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck me kate, what did you have for breakfast? I'd have Something Burning by The Stone Roses wired into me brain.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 12:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it was the particularly skanky Stilton that Joe fed me last night last thing before I went to bed. It gave me odd dreams, as well.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck me kate > Take it off list sailor. ;-)

Strange idea. Probably Immaculate Collection though I am sure that's already etched in my brain.

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

"Ha ha, there's a party in my brain, and none of you are invited!"

There's a party in my mind
And I hope it never stops
I'm stuck here in this seat
And I may not stand up

Other people can go home
Other people they can split
I can never stop
I can never quit

Everything is quiet
Everyone's gone to sleep
I'm wide awake
But these memories
These memories can't wait

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck that song scared me when I was 13! Stooges first album right now though I shouldn't be held to it please

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Elbow - Asleep at the Back (album not single)

actionjackson, Wednesday, 18 June 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Ugh. My server has been down for about an hour. I'm changing my mind about that USB port in my brain, because what if it crashed and took my entire mind with it? That would suxor!

kate (kate), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

You mean it didn't already?! =oþ

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I always complain about getting thoughtworms... maybe they're really viruses! (maybe I've got mad cow disease and don't know it...)

kate (kate), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

BRAINRADIO is where the future is!

"...and we here at Cl##rstation will be there to satisfy your radio needs".

What about Cl*arstion wants to own and control YOUR VERY SYNAPSES? What about when you casually start humming a song from memory, Orin Hatch finds out and sends out a terminate pulse to DESTROY YOUR BRAYNE?! eek.

Hunter (Hunter), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

(maybe I've got mad cow disease and don't know it...)

i'm not *even* touching that one, kate! ; - )

doom-e, Wednesday, 18 June 2003 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

You know, speaking of Brain Radio, you should check this shit out:
http://www.thoughtsciences.com
They're about NEUROMARKETING!
But's not as scary as MIT's Project Oxygen, where your house is automated (and therefore hackable!). McAfee Security takes on a whole new meaning.

Catty, Thursday, 19 June 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

"In a Silent Way" would be good connected directly to cerebral cortex.
But injected, like mainlined definitely Lord Sutch and Heavy Friends

Rem Lezar, Thursday, 19 June 2003 20:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Sessions
