"Tim Burgess has recruited Jennifer Lopez, P Diddy, Lil' Kim, Snoop Dogg and Beck to help out on his solo album.

The Charlatan frontman, who has been writing his own songs while also working on a new LP for the band, releases a single I Believe In The Spirit on August 25.

It's the first track to be lifted from his album I Believe, released on September 8."

Theres always been a shit chart pop element to his music, I suppose.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 18:13 (twenty-two years ago)

*cackle* I believe it. You do know he's been living in LA for a few years, yes? Probably how he met Beck and from there outward to all the rest. Might be fun, actually, but we'll see.

I know about LA, and the Beck part makes sense. Even P. Diddy kinda does, after that Deep Dish record. But Jennifer Lopez and Lil' Kim... I'll believe it only when I hear it.

(Snoop Dogg should've hooked up with Ian Brown!)

Lynskey is OTM but sadly I don't think even J-Lo and Puffy can help the man.

I think the Ananova story was copied from NME.com, where they had mistakenly left out the word "of" after "associates". I.e. he has a few engineers working on his album who have previously worked with Lil' Kim et al.

Tim as DJ isn't bad, but does he actually need that much help to sell his album?

Prolly hoping to relate to the gangsta quotient.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 19:17 (twenty-two years ago)

JoB must be right. This is absurd.

King Kobra (King Kobra), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

it is. a friend of tim's emailed me back and said: it's a piss-take.

I'd still like to hear it! It would drive the LA Anglophile contingent -- for whom Tim is the local artist-in-residence -- bonkers.
