And are Dave matthews Band really a "jock" band?

when your local sports bar tries to clear off an area for a dance floor, and then has a DJ come in.

9 times out of 10, this is Jockrock. of a sort.

also, many american jam bands are embraced by the jock/frat boys. funny how that crosses over.

there's been a lot of cries from certain bay area scenesters that certain other bay area scenester's bands are jockrock... the coachwhips being deemed enemy #1.

is it cause some guys like baseball?

is it the somewhat wild dancing that goes on? (weak by most macho stinking pits i've seen.)

or are people confusing jocular (jesting and carrying on) with jockiness (sports machoness)?

due to a bad choice in sublets, i lived with a handful of undergraduate econ/b-school/mouthbreather/jock-types for about 8 months. Oh, the O.A.R. and the Eminem was rocking nightly.

When they REALLY bothered, the fuckers got "Kerosene" blasted at them, with the EQ as fucked up as I could get it.

Jock music is actually pretty varied. When I was in high school, jocks discovered Biggie and Outkast and Beenie Man way before I did. Freshman year of college, I had a sensitive jock roomate who was all into Creed and Jewel and the Eagles. And in Syracuse a whole lot of them seem to go to raves. Fat guys in flannel shirts and goatees trying to dance with glowsticks is about the funniest thing ever.

baseball games have that super cheezy house music pumping sometimes, i call it "jock-house". gary glitter?

andrew wk is kinda jocky if you consider a super shy weirdo noise nerd went writing a bunch of hooky anthemic pop songs with the production levels set on maximum jocky.
