That Bob Segar song with Tom Cruise sliding around in his socks and underwear. Which, I am told, is "impossible to dance to." (I wouldn't know.)

take it from me, it's "brown eyed girl." at least in the states.
not to mention, "i will survive," "YMCA," and "groove is in the heart." i used to live in a place that had wedding receptions on the first floor 2-3 times a week straight thru from may to october. i never want to hear these songs again.

earlnash, Thursday, 26 June 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Gazing lovingly at the hideous monkey in a meringue he's just married, surely the hapless groom would sing a verse (and chorus) of 'You're the One for me, Fatty'?

Jacob (Jacob), Thursday, 26 June 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I always hear Lady In Red eventually.

that list is from ultimatewedding.com and it is very icky. when i saw butterfly kisses i almost threw up because it make me sicker than just about any other song on earth. plus, it's about a father/daughter love affair, right? maybe it's more popular in rural areas.

That is the track listing to a canadian wedding cd. it is only for canadian weddings. don't use any of those songs unless you are getting married in canada. or unless you are canadian. or unless you are marrying a canadian.

obviously i don't go to a lot of normal people's weddings cuz i didn't know that there was a sub-genre of father/daughter dance songs. it's official:normal people are fucking creepy.

scott seward, Saturday, 28 June 2003 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

The last couple of bland weddings I've been to for young couples, every single one of them had Semisonic "Closing Time".

Carey (Carey), Saturday, 28 June 2003 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Last wedding reception I attended, DJ Motherdaughter (it was a mother-daughter team, apparently, so I took to calling them that) played "Play That Funky Music" but it seemed a little weird. Then I noticed. It was some edited version with the words "white boy" somehow cut out and the beat spliced back together. Strange. How cautious to not offend does one need to be?
