He's had album titles with, "Incognegro," "Word of Mouf" and now "Chicken & Beer." I predict his next will be either "Yes, massah"

Which stereotype will he play up next?!

David Allen, Friday, 27 June 2003 22:44 (twenty-two years ago)

he has?

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 27 June 2003 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

what stereotypes are you referring to, pray god?

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 27 June 2003 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, remove "either" from my original post.

Another possible album title:
I HAVE A LARGE PENIS

David Allen, Friday, 27 June 2003 23:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Incognegro is pretty damn funny.

"People want to know where all the craziness is coming from, the creativeness, the rhymes," he explained. "It's from eating chicken each and every day. One way or another — baked, I don't care if it's fried, rotisserie, a Caesar salad with chicken on it — I'll eat it. Chicken every day."

Yes, David, I've noticed that on a few of his songs he uses the vernacular of black Americans, especially black Americans from the Southern United States.

Good observation.

perhaps he'll start boasting about himself at some point as well

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 28 June 2003 01:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I do seriously hope he gets around to titling an album The Ludacris Foundation

Fru Da Grapevine?

I was thinking about this earlier today, namely how pointless and arbitrary some of these stereotypes are. "Gosh, I hear those dark people like WATERMELON and FRIED CHICKEN! The savages!" What the hell? It's not like watermelon is on the same level as, say, sauteed infant knuckles as far as nausea-inducing deviant behavior re cuisine goes.

(Then again, there probably could've been some more in-depth of-its-time attachment when these stereotypes were established back in 16whatever. I don't know.)

Also: if Ludacris hadn't taken the title Chicken and Beer, Toby Keith eventually would've.

(First couple sentences in short: Watermelon < Christian baby blood matzoh on the evil scale)

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Saturday, 28 June 2003 03:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Funny, I heard Autechre were going to name their new record "Chicken and Beer" too.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Saturday, 28 June 2003 03:13 (twenty-two years ago)

watermelon is fucking classic, yo

Oh, sort of like how most white bands release CDs with titles like, "We just can't dance!" and "Boy oh boy, look at this sweater vest!"

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 28 June 2003 04:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds like a plan.

David Allen, Saturday, 28 June 2003 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 28 June 2003 05:55 (twenty-two years ago)

chicken & beer is one of the best album titles I've heard in a long time.

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Sunday, 29 June 2003 05:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Sunday, 29 June 2003 06:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Ween's 'Chocolate and Cheese' really nailed those Swiss

dave q, Sunday, 29 June 2003 06:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Can anyone actually nail the Swiss? Doesn't it make more sense to vaguely approach them?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 June 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

In re: the question posed, Ludicris has announced that his next album is entitled Fall of the Waffle House of Usher - it's a dirty-south/horror-rap R&B crossover, will break down several doors

This thread has made me all hot and sticky for a possible future Ludacris/Ween collab.

Nick Mirov (nick), Sunday, 29 June 2003 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I just realized I've never had chicken and beer together. I need to! Badly! I thank David Allen and Ludacris for bringing this to my attention.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 29 June 2003 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope someone starts a thread here for every song on the new Ludacris a-bomb.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 29 June 2003 23:56 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
I watched the Hitchcock movie "To Catch a Thief" over the weekend. In one scene, Grace Kelly tempts Cary Grant spend the afternoon with her, cruising the hills above the French Riviera in her spory convertible, looking for a villa to rent, by saying: "I packed a picnic lunch of chicken... and beer!"

I laughed, and thought of Ludacris.
