"Van Halen's OU812 --> GangGreen's I81B4U"

I remember seeing an ad for the GangGreen album in an issue of Thrasher and laughing my ass off. Of course, that's the kind of humor that appeals to most eighth graders.

Andrew Frye (paul cox), Saturday, 28 June 2003 05:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Not really a parody, but the new Offspring album stole the tentative title from the new Guns N' Roses release, "Chinese Democracy". I loved that. I think all the Offspring said about it were, "Hey, Axl stole my hair, so we stole their title. You snooze, you lose." I love it. Axl should shit or get off the pot already.

Led Zep's Physical Graffitti -----> Dead Milkmen's Metaphysical Graffitti

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 28 June 2003 06:15 (twenty-two years ago)

The Milkmen easily take the last pairing in a death match simply for the inclusion of "Cousin Earl."

Andrew Frye (paul cox), Saturday, 28 June 2003 06:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The Look People did Stop Making Cheese, pointed at The Talking Heads or a Swiss goat herder depending on how you read it. Their follow up, More Songs About Hats And Chickens makes me think it isn't the goatherder.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 30 June 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

well, Acid Mothers are a whole other story in themselves. their name is a play on Ash Ra Tempel, and most of their releases are variations on classic rock album titles or concepts, as it were:

41st Century Splendid Man
Electric Heavyland (already mentioned)
Diamond Doggy Peggy
Ziggy Sitar Dust Raga
Grateful Head
St.Captain Freak Out And The Magic Bamboo Request (also already mentioned / cover is a parody of Sgt. Peppers)
In C (well, its a cover, but the B-side "In E" could be taken a tribute/title parody)

tinobeat (tinobeat), Monday, 30 June 2003 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Miles Davis' Birth of Cool has spawned Kitchens of Distinction Death of Cool and a trip hop series called Rebirth of Cool.
