Classic. The Rolling Stones one actually introduced me to several Stones classics (as a prepubescent boy, it was so WEIRD to hear Weird Al say "sex" repeatedly). In fact, there's a LOT of classic rock I first heard on one of his early polkas. Can't think of a bad one. Even his Bohemian Rhapsody Polka was nice.

Anyone see the original ALTV, where he took over MTV for a few hours in like 1992? I think I still have the entire thing on tape.

wonder whether people in the hardcore polka community are like "fuck that weird al guy, he's making a mockery of true polka" or whether they grudgingly respect him for bringing polka to the masses.

"Polkas on 45" is stone-cold classic, the rest have trouble improving on the formula but some of them are damned hilarious. I know there's a thread where we've gotten into these but damned if I can find it...

his show was great, i went this weekend. spoiler: he does a polka medley bookended by 'poker face' (not sure if he actually sang it as "polkaface")

"angry white boy polka" has become my fave over time, not just because of the usual formalist perfection but because of a shit-into-gold alchemy the others just don't have.

love this:

"Polka Power!" is the seventh polka medley recorded by "Weird Al" Yankovic. It appears on his 1999 album Running with Scissors. The song was a single in Germany.
