TS: Guarini vs. Clarkson

I'm surprised by the new Justin Guarini album. It's generic soul, yes, and loaded with PRODUCTION!, but he comes off miles better than Kelly Clarkson does on her album. They went for the sexy angle with Guarini, and they mostly pull it off. He sounds sexy. He really does. Clarkson, on the other hand, made an album that felt like it needed to prove her talent, as if to apologize for the fact that she won when she so clearly didn't deserve to. So Clarkson's album is all, "Look. I am singing. See me sing. Watch, I will hit this note now. Are you impressed? Not everyone can hit that note, you know." Guarini sounds downright realxed by comparison, damn near natural. I am coming very close to liking this record.

One thing: the "Unchained Melody" cover should DIE DIE DIE.

Just don't do it if you want to go through it.

Just out of curiosity, who deserved to win? Tamyra?

I agree that Clarkson over-sings, but she DOES have a rollercoaster of a voice. It's exhilarating.

"Just Missed The Train" and the Stevie-ish thing right before it are the 2 good tracks on the Kelly Clarkson album, but - you're right - Guarini's album is much more enjoyable (even though I'm a Kelly fan).

Kenan, are you watching the American Juniors show? I've had the (ILE) thread mostly to myself since the start - where's Dan?!
