real audio/mp3 stream capture software

I am looking for software that captures RA and MP3 streams in either .wav or .mp3 format, and records them directly to disk.
I do not need anything extreme, just a basic utility that will allow me to archive streaming audio.

Thanks in advance!

Mike,

I use Goldwave - it's pretty damn good in my humble opinion. More info here:

I use Total Recorder.

And mp3 streams are easy to capture most of the time. Just right-click to download the whatever.m3u file, rename it to whatever.txt and open it in notepad. It should have a URL to the mp3 file somewhere on their server, and you can just copy 'n' paste that to your browser or download manager to grab the mp3. It's easy, honest.

if you use a mac the best one to use is audio hijack - its a really fantastic tool. get it from rogueamoeba.com. you have to pay for it tho (i think it's $15) - try it on a trial - i really like it - it has lots of interesting effects you can apply to the stream too.

alternatively there is a fee one called wiretap you can get free from here

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/wiretap.html

its basic but good - very easy to use.

i prefer the audio hijack but as i said - you have to pay for it. the extras make it worth it ho.

How about Mac-based stuff for converting AIFF to MP3, and MP3 editing (chopping up radio rips, etc.)????

adaml do you have itunes? http://www.apple.com/itunes/
that will do AIFF <-> MP3, as for editing MP3s I reccomend not doing that, but just editing AIFFs (which there are plenty of editing software for)

"the extras make it worth it ho. "
best typo eva!

You didn't mention what OS you use, but this is cross platform and free - http://www.howtohaven.com/multimedia/recordstreamingmusic.shtml

thank you so much yo.
i'm going to keep looking for something that'll rip rather than record, so i can download in the background while triggering alarming volume adjustment alerts on my computer. but thank you.
