It seems to be the dividing line...

...in that it struck countless Beatles fans as the ultimate indignity -- senseless, cloying pleasantry. Me, I think it has its charms -- in fact, all those early McCartney records seem to be about distilling his melodic gift to the purest possible mixture.

six years pass...

Dig this song, dig this album...

McCartney POX for today:

Magneto and Titanium Man (Never fails to cheer me up)
Golden Earth Girl (Gorgeous ballad buried on a weak album)
Daytime Nighttime Suffering
Waterspout
Mrs. Vandebilt (This shit smoked last August at Fenway)
Long Haired Lady (All of Ram, really)
Mr. Bellamy (Love the orchestral intro and outro)
Return to Pepperland (Just discovered this song, sweetness!)
Silly Love Songs (Still breathtaking and, as I think Tom May said on another thread, "fuckin' subversive")
Heather

I didn't even mention anything off either McCartney I or II, Red Rose Speedway (my 2nd fave), Back to the Egg, or Chaos. Not to mention the gems from the weaker records...an embarassment of riches. Cliche but true...

I just got a hold of a bunch of McCartney rarities and b-sides. I'm still going through them, they're not the best sound quality...

I wish he'd finally put out a box set of his best unreleased material instead of releasing lame live albums every couple years.
