You can't really go wrong with the Guidance Records compilation "Midnight Express", which came out in '99 and is fantastic Chicago house.

If you're looking for a mix of classics and more recent stuff, you can't go wrong with any Theo Parrish mix CD.

Jeff beat me to the punch, Theo Parrish is the shit.

you need you some Derrick Carter or Larry Heard. That deep house page is great.

Felix Da Housecat is a good guy to check out for new stuff.

but as with all house, you gotta see it live if you really want to get down. There arn't a ton of great house CDs out there.

What is/was hip-house?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 12 July 2003 22:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to like "39 Flavours of Tech House" but I don't anymore so much. It might seem weird but Kenny Dope (from NYC house legends Master at Work among other things) has a great mix of 70s soul and funk classics that might scratch your itch.

Ronan to thread, clearly.

michael mayer's peel session is the shit...and pretty digestible at 30 minutes...in one sitting, at least

There aren't loads of brilliant mixes, I find they do tide things over fine but I reckon my favourite mix albums are slightly different to my favourite music, ie the singles I hear out etc. Felix Da Housecat's Excursions is particularly good, though not all house.

Jacques Lu Cont's Fabric Live mix is very good, again slightly weirder than just house maybe.

i've blagged a copy of Deep Dish Global Underground but not listened yet

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 13 July 2003 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I heard it's not the best.

The new Swayzak Fabric mix looks amazing, although I haven't heard the whole thing yet.

For a mixture of deep house and microhouse I HIGHLY recommend Tiefschwarz's Mix CD "A Little Help For Your Friends" if you can get hold of it. Absolutely stunning.

one month passes...
so . . . opinions on the swayzak fabric mix? looks deceitfully good.

not sure. it's been a shite year for mixes.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 18 August 2003 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

They are not Pure House but i'd recommend any of the Eskimo Mix dc's especially Eskimo 1, 2 and 3 as well as Eskimo Summermadness.

jed-e-3, Monday, 18 August 2003 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

It does look good though etc.

Best I've heard is the Jacques Lu Cont mix.

When is the new Felix mix out?

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 18 August 2003 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

the swayzak fabric mix is absolutely excellent - first-class selection of tracks done really well (on traktor, which is a really good thing as they're pretty rubbish djs in the conventional sense). i love it and strongly recommend anyone to pick it up...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 18 August 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

three years pass...

does anyone know breezy summery house mixes with stuff in the vein of disco cubizm or joris voorns early bird? you know, like mark farinas sf sessions vol 1.
