TS: The Immortal Lee County Killers vs. The Immortal Lee County Killers II

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Monday, 14 July 2003 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

haven't heard their recorded output, but saw them tour a couple years ago with Bob Log II. I was pretty impressed, especially when they had one of the Japanese guys from Gasoline join them onstage and play guitar with his teeth while one of the Killers roamed the audience blowing harmonica = Rock and/or Roll!

Shakey Mo, they're playing SF soon.

I've only seen ILCKII live, and they rocked the fuck out. I have both records, though, and the second one is better, especially on the lyrical side. The singer/guitarist is really friendly. I don't understand why they don't draw more attention, especially in the current climate.

who are they playing with? And is it at Bottom of the Hill? I'm pretty lazy about going to shows these days, but if they're on a good bill I might make it out.

i find their recorded stuff much less exciting than the live show (as is the case with a lot of two-person blues-damage-garage freakout units). that said, i wouldn't hesitate to see them again - they're terrific showmen and strong musicians, and chet (singer/guitarist) is one of the all-time sweethearts.

Loud, messy, wildly unneven. On some songs they just floored me. On others, I wanted to go up and offer a hand with the sound (since they didn't have anyone on it and the vox were threatening to vanish). I loved em. And I agree about Chet: he's a fine chap.

Hey lauren!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 21:48 (twenty-two years ago)

hey, mr. skillz! are you in sf now? if so i highly recommend that you drink a bunch of whiskey and go see the killers. also, you should go to a baseball game with gygax, but maybe not all in the same day as the excitement would probably kill you.

I've got Essential Fucked Up Blues and almost never listen to it. I'm not even sure if I've ever played the whole thing through.
I'm not sure why. What I've heard of the newer record ILK II, I liked more though.

Cash Money/Audio though, I think I like a lot.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Horace- I thought I could count on you.

Lauren-Yes, I am in SF now. I will probably go and see them. I also want to go see the Giants, but gygax! kind of scares me.
