I was pretty 'out of it' for most of the decade, so I probably missed the good stuff. Where do I start?

dave q, Wednesday, 16 July 2003 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

The songs from the 2.4 Children Christmas specials.

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Some lists never die. The 2003 self would revise it somewhat but the 1999 self stands by it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

If you want to find out what it was actually like to live in the 90s, you have to listen to Aqua.

Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister

Marcus Barr (Marcus Barr), Thursday, 17 July 2003 02:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't have any of the records mentioned on this page except the 1st wu-tang (& i might not've got round to selling my copy of "orange" yet either) & i wouldnt want em either - i guess i was pretty out of it that decade too, good.

duane, Thursday, 17 July 2003 02:45 (twenty-two years ago)

that's one helluva lost weekend

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 17 July 2003 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

dear jess

thanks for posting that; any snarky/allusive comments (cf #100-#1) would be greatly appreciated.

ps : that magnetic fields track is at #47 & #153, wtf?

(& haha tom & jess' lists = what introduced me to jungle!)

etc, Thursday, 17 July 2003 10:47 (twenty-two years ago)

i had to do a double take - Vandal-X? surely some mishtake?

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 17 July 2003 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

jess' lists are painfully flawless

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 17 July 2003 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

"flawless"

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 17 July 2003 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

tico and jess are kind of correct in that I think the best recs that were released in the 90s were bought after that decade ended.

Looking at this list i have very few of the recs as well and what i have listened to: maxinquaye, portishead, copper blue is ok but i prob could do with never listening to any of that stuff again.

I can't picture dave listening to belle and sebatian somehow.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 17 July 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

oh God, Belle and Sebastian are so mediocre.

russ t, Thursday, 17 July 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

ha 101-200 was written before the "update" of the original list i posted back to technicolor last fall, where i rated a few trax higher than before, hence the mag fields repeat

jess (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 17 July 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

jess' lists are painfully flawless

Agreed -- 100 times more interesting than any of the lists that you would see in any of the print rags.
