track ID: poppy deep house tune

Ok, so this is almost certainly a futile question, but here goes. I'm looking to I.D. a deep house track I've been hearing periodically for the last 18 months or so. It sounds a lot like Cassius covering Luomo, if that makes any sense: jubilant, diva-driven, over the top, unabashedly soulful.

Begins with a peppery arpeggio, kind of Detroity, before female vocals come in. At first, they seem like they're going to drag the track down, but when the chorus hits it's ecstacy (small "e") for everyone. I can't quite make out the words, but the chorus finishes up "...let love [something]... til sun shines... oh-oh..."

The vocal is self-harmonizing, two- or three-part, and kind of overdriven in that shivery Luomo way. I'm trying to map out the notes, but I think I'm off... something like 7-4-3, 7-4-3, 2-3-2-1....

I'm sure this is a lost cause but you can't google on a melody, so....

you can't google on a melody

this is surely the modern computer-based translation of Flav's "y'all can't copyright no beat"

Who is Deep House Page? Does he bear scrolls and wear a pageboy?

My main man, Billy K spun it the other night. here's what he has to say:

It’s Octave One, “Blackwater”; not sure which version, there are many great remixes,

That’s Ann Saunderson singing

Sounds like it's the tune your describing I believe,

Detroity is right.

... he's THE MAN!

Oh of course. It's very UK garage for a detroit techno tune I always thought.

that's definitely Blackwater...

just open your heart
just open your mind
just let your love flow
until the sun shines

(at least that's my crude interpretation of the lyrics)

whatta tune.

Haha Philip.

*smacks forehead*

I think I just lost my Detroit techno stripes.

Suburban Knight and the Wizard remove them by physical force.

speaking of detroit techno, has anyone heard the monobox lp molecule yet? is it as good as the few reviews i've read make it sound?

disco stu (disco stu), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

holy shit, that's the tune! disco stu, those are totally the lyrics. you guys have made my fucking day - in less than 24 hours i found the track i've been looking for for at least a year now.

btw, how many ILMers are on drumbeat? because i'm going to download now, and the queues are ridiculously long.

i think the monobox album is pretty fantastic, as well as the 12". very minimal, more stripped down than his new peacefrog LP. super clean.

those lyrics sound a bit like one of the tunes on the other people place lp!
