On the evidence (accumulated on my road trip from New York) he's really big in Ohio rest stops.

erm, he's a big man with a lot of love to give

"Uncle" is an underused term in pop names.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 18 July 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

he is ... sometimes not playing with kid rock ...

Jay K (Jay K), Friday, 18 July 2003 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

DO WE HAVE A WINNER?

amateurist (amateurist), Friday, 18 July 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I honesty can defend him. He played at a local suburban food-fare (that is NOT the point of defense!) and I remember his on stage banter as being charming, affable, and self-deprecating. Really kinda charming, which surprised me. The music, well I don't remember that part.

charming twice oops anyway. he was so charming.

"Uncle" is an underused term in pop names.

Uncle Tupelo
U.N.K.L.E.
Bob's Your Uncle
Uncle Funk
"Don't Fuck Your Uncle When Your Aunt's in the Hospital" (obscure Smashing Pumpkins b-side)
"Who's Your Uncle?" (regional club hit for Iowa Dancehall trio Rosco & the Hum-Vees in 1999)
"Did Your Uncle Do the Dog?" (last gasp Rufus Thomas number)

tip of the iceberg

stevem (blueski), Friday, 18 July 2003 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic for "Heaven" from the first record, and the "Drift Away" cover from the new one. That song can never be revived enough.

You have to be from Detroit to understand it, maaaan. Just like Detroit techno.

If Heaven ain't a lot like Detroit
I don't wanna go
If Heaven ain't a lot like Detroit
I'd just a soon stay home
If they ain't got no 8 mile
Like they do up in the D
Just send me to Hell or Salt Lake City
It would be about the same to me

"I honestly had no idea who the guy was until an extensive period of research (meaning I typed "Uncle Kracker" on Yahoo) that really opened my eyes. Uncle Kracker's not just a tubby leech sucking the vaginal secretion-laced blood of trailer park rocker Kid Rock...he's a tubby leech sucking the vaginal secretion-laced blood of trailer park rocker Kid Rock TO THE EXTREME!!!"

Bobby D Gray (bedhead), Saturday, 19 July 2003 00:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I hate him so much it makes my teeth hurt.

You have to be from Detroit to fully understand the embarrassment that he causes us as a cultural export.

The fuck covers Robert Bradleys Black Water Suprise, why doesnt he just go whole hog and cover hootie and the blowfish? GOD I HATE HIM AND HIS BIG FAT STUPID HEAD. YEAH THAT'S RIGHT, I HATE HIM IN CAPS BITCH!!!

Mike Taylor (mjt), Saturday, 19 July 2003 01:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Mike, if heaven ain't a lot like Detroit, I don't wanna go!!!!!!

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 19 July 2003 01:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Heaven is not like Detroit at all, they have good radio in Heaven.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Saturday, 19 July 2003 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope Heaven isn't like Detroit, so, you know, Heaven won't look like it was hit by a nuclear bomb. And Uncle Cracker won't be there.

David Allen, Saturday, 19 July 2003 05:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I dig the "Sweet Jane"-Bob Seger synthesis of "In A Little While," especially the bridge. I do think he needs to uptempo his singles a bit (the rest were waaaay too mellow for my tastes).

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 19 July 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

twenty years pass...

why does the supermarket get all uncle krackered out at lunchtime? fucking dipshit. seems hardly fair that they follow it with "i was made to love her" today. sorry, stevie. they know not what they do.
