i'm watching a dave matthews concert on MHD....

this shit is harrowing....goddamn this guy has the biggest collection of weird vocal and facial tics...my god i can't stand it but i can't look away his big giant twitching white pie face sweating and muttering and wooping all these bizarre sounding things out of its mouthhole....

dave talks in a totally weird sorta quasi southern accent between songs, it's really weird it's not quite southern...but he's from south africa right? anyway it's def not south african, like he made up his own accent.

i mean you wanna give these guys a chance i guess but god this shit just fucking sucks shit...it's got the worst parts of jam bands but it's not even really druggie or going out on any kind of ledge, even phish has their moments of throwing down something pretty hard or weird or funky or whatever....

talent musicians are the worst IMO

so al i right ln thinking these guys are p much a contemproray US Genesis who never registered in the UK?
my partner has a soft spot for them after seeing them live while travelling in her 20s and wants to see their UK show. We watched a few live Youtubes and you know what, it wasn't half as terrible or bland as I'd expected it to be from the bleating I hear from the US contingent on ilm and elsewhere.

no analogue comes to mind, because I don't think there is one, musically or sociologically. they're more like Chris Martin and Savuka, though that has nothing to do with the traditional American music that very few British bands do, and would probably be better than DMB..

A friend of mine has a friend who played some benefit with Dave Matthews. Apparently, no surprise, he's a nice enough guy, but the story I heard was that he was hanging backstage talking in a regular voice like a normal person, and then hit the stage and bam! Muppet voice.

My brother and I are going to a Dave Matthews Band show tonight with our mom. I wish it had been any other band she likes, DMB is one of the few that I find objectionable. I want to be a good sport so she has a good time, I just hope my involuntary micro expressions don’t give me away
