The whole album, ELEPHUNK, is pretty good, except for the parts that are bad.
But what do you guys think of this song? The whole album has a sort of Farrelly Bros tint to it, and one of the first lines of the track is a disclaimer about how no disrespect is meant. But, I mean, shit.
The beat is fucking insane and the chorus just kicks ass, but, I don't know. Sure it's in poor taste.

Haven't heard this particular track but the exhortation to "get retarded" is an old one -- the ego trip comp has a very young Craig Mack under a different name asking if Nassau County can get retarded, c. 1987 or so. Canibus did it again a couple years back.

It's certainly not the nicest term in the world, and it's certainly characteristically good-natured of the Peas to apologize for using the term, but come on. The phrase hasn't got anything to do with actual mentally disabled people. Or maybe it does on this song...

Oh yeah, I'm sure I've heard the exhortation before.
It doesn't have a lot to do with the developmentally challenged (i think that's the current CP term).

It's impossible not to like this song.

I just listened to it about 6 times in a row while I was dolling myself to go out tonight.
And then I got to this cafe, and the crappy bands I came to see aren't going on for another hour, so I thought, hey! Let's nerd it up on ILX.
Anyway, I love this song more each time I hear it.

Totally. That track is so fantastic and dancable it makes me happy and bouncy and damn. Also I have this whole theory about how its a manifesto for the album -- like the track about the sexy mama where they can't rhyme coz she's too hot for them to think or the only way to save the relationship is to "shut up" or even they get so much anxiety that they need to sedate themselves or e t fucking c -- like the brane's gotta go off for them to just relax, like politix weighs too much on the BRANE. And the whole bit about let's get ignant let's get hectic bob yr. head like an epileptic is damm fine rhyming.

Erm, no offence, but you must have a really PC taste in hip hop if something like "get retarded" bothers you. Or perhaps it's just the context (see also the "Mos Def - quasi-homosexual" thread).

heh heh, yup, they call me El Prudo.
