Or: "damn, these records really do(n't) belong next to each other". I organize by artist and have wound up with the following:

Moroder, Giorgio - Knights in White Satin

I'd love to be able to participate in this thread but I can't 'cos I can't actually see my CD's at the moment.

You see, I've just had to spend the entire morning putting all my CD's in boxes (9 of those big archive boxes full plus a big plastic crate full of all the boxsets etc. and another couple for the DVD's - fortunately the vinyl's all on shelves in a built-in double wardrobe so that doesn't have to be moved!) prior to dismantling the Stewart Ostacks, so we can have new carpet laid this week *sob*!

Sorry, I know it's not directly relevant but I just had to tell that to someone who might understand and be sympathetic as opposed to just standing around watching and sniggering and muttering "obesessive compulsive" under their breath (but deliberately loud enough for me to hear) like my bloody girlfriend and her daughter have been doing!

Or: "damn, these records really do(n't) belong next to each other"

This pairing fits "do(n't)" perfectly:

Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft: Gold und Liebe
Dire Straits: Love over Gold

"the Stewart Ostacks" = surely cockney rhyming slang for something!!

A friend from Arizona was bemused by this in the Raggettstacks once:

Van Morrison
Morrissey
Mortiis
Mother Love Bone
Motorhead

...with Muslimguaze near at hand. And the Mountain Goats for that matter! I dunno, though, it doesn't seem like much of a juxtaposition to me.

Not that I have anything like alphabetical (or any other) 'order' reigning over my modest stacks of cd's scattered in different rooms, but the disks by these three guys probably are close to each other ...erm, somewhere:

Tom Zé
Jean-Marc Zelwer
John Zorn

...Tho' come to think of it, in certain aspects they aren't p'haps that dissimilar!?
Moreover - yeh, the half a dozen Zappa's, two Zdob ªi Zdub's and an Aziza Mustafa Zadeh, plus a Zombies collection -- that'd make up a rather more chequered lot! -- aren't anywhere near those other Z's (...or so I suppose).

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Janet Jackson - Jackyl - Jesus Jones
Bob Marley - Madonna - Megadeth
Einsturzende Neubauten - Enya - Faith No More
Johnny Cash - Coil - Eric Clapton

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Sunday, 20 July 2003 01:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Sometimes my collection doesn't make much sense:

Can
Captain Beefheart
Carpenters
..

Michael Dubsky, Sunday, 20 July 2003 08:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Gravitar
Gregorian Chant
Gun Club

Michael Dubsky, Sunday, 20 July 2003 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

A Perfect Circle
The Cure
Interpol
Tool
Isley Brothers
Shangri Las
a CDR
Fountains of Wayne
Windy and Carl
Sportsguitar

It's chaos!!!

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Sunday, 20 July 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

four years pass...

I just noticed that I have Swans' Soundtracks for the Blind sitting right next to Talk Talk's The Party's Over - which is *quite* the difference in mood, if you've heard the two albums.
