And their endless 1996 begins.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 19 July 2003 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

cradle snatcher

gaz (gaz), Saturday, 19 July 2003 09:10 (twenty-two years ago)

for a second i thought the title was a typo and she was getting engaged to Daniel Johnston.

now that WOULD be news..

Jack Battery-Pack (Jack Battery-Pack), Saturday, 19 July 2003 09:13 (twenty-two years ago)

okay, ned, you just made my hallucination a vision.

it's exactly what i wanted to see, give or take a few years.

reo fordecor, Saturday, 19 July 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I already knew that. I've known that for some time. I must really have my finger on the pop pulse.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 19 July 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

hold up, this happened at least six months ago I'm sure!

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Saturday, 19 July 2003 22:24 (twenty-two years ago)

will she feed him?

keith (keithmcl), Saturday, 19 July 2003 22:35 (twenty-two years ago)

With dry crispy bread and sticks.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 19 July 2003 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

okay, so you're all know-it-alls in here.

i just thought it was sort of cute and worthy of getting a few harmless stabs or being the butt of a few jokes.

reo fordecor, Sunday, 20 July 2003 01:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Wasn't that what we did?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 20 July 2003 01:10 (twenty-two years ago)

(haha Jack I thought the same thing)

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 20 July 2003 01:13 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm creeped out.

who are you people?

reo fordecor, Sunday, 20 July 2003 01:48 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a very good question.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 20 July 2003 01:49 (twenty-two years ago)

is he still anorexic?

keith (keithmcl), Sunday, 20 July 2003 01:55 (twenty-two years ago)

"anorexic" = arthritic apparently. nothing to do with sm4ck, definitely.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Sunday, 20 July 2003 08:03 (twenty-two years ago)

arthritic *and* anorexic actually. and prone to working with hacks like Van Dyke Parks.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Sunday, 20 July 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been assured Van Dyke Parks is a genius. I know him only as the man who collaborated with Brian Wilson on the ill-fated 'Smile'.

Reo, we are all know-it-alls here. If you have anything resembling a life you will at least pity us.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Sunday, 20 July 2003 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

VDP's work on "Luv You Life" convinced me (a bit) that perhaps Silverchair do deserve to breathe my air now and again. It's a good song, honestly.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Sunday, 20 July 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Charlie, you don't find it a little over-ornate and histrionic?

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Sunday, 20 July 2003 11:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the lyrics are awful, but I love the song, precisely *because* it's ornate and histrionic. All the while sounding nothing whatsoever like Embrace. Quite some feat.

However, I'm prepared to concede that I might be overcompensating for years of Silverchair HATE, sinply because I've found a song of theirs that's at least tolerable. And all my Aussie Silverchair apologist friends can suck on that.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Sunday, 20 July 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Well that seems fair enough. I liked it when they rocked though.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Sunday, 20 July 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

What I've always found odd is that the press here makes out that he's the real talent and Ms Imbruglia is just some fluffy pop chick from Neighbours, when (and I KNOW NOBODY AGREES WITH ME ON THIS) she writes far more substantial, melodic, creative and interesting songs than she does, with far better lyrics too. She just can't pick her singles for shit. Someone at her record company needs to sit her down and say "Nat, hon, you are not indie. So stop trying to be commercially unviable already!".

UK articles (correctly) omit any mention of Daniel Johns being some kind of talented songwriter.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 20 July 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

he is possibly australia's worst lyricist of all time

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Sunday, 20 July 2003 23:19 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, but what is important is that he's cute

keith (keithmcl), Sunday, 20 July 2003 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

but not as cute as her

gaz (gaz), Monday, 21 July 2003 00:15 (twenty-two years ago)

An Australian newspaper is facing possible legal action after a comical blunder stated uber-babe Natalie Imbruglia was involved in a lesbian relationship.

The New County, a weekly publication for the Greek community, reported Imbruglia was having an affair with Silverchair's Daniel Johns.

Under the headline 'Romance Between Woman Stars of Rock', the paper claimed: 'Homosexual activity in the past would have remained secret or else threatened one's career.

'Not only does no-one criticise some stars for their lesbian relationships but now it is a form of advertising.'

However, Silverchair Jones is actually a fully-fledged man.

keith (keithmcl), Monday, 21 July 2003 00:22 (twenty-two years ago)

four years pass...

And now they are to be divorced...

Man hasn't she aged badly.

Trayce, Saturday, 5 January 2008 01:28 (eighteen years ago)

Silverchair in the year 2007. Do you care?

Autumn Almanac, Saturday, 5 January 2008 01:42 (eighteen years ago)

Man hasn't she aged badly.

That pic looks like the work of a bitchy sub-editor to me. She's looking better than fine in the newish 'Glorious' video.
