Band Covers: You Pick

If you could hear ANY song covered by ANY band, what would you pick?

I would like to hear Oasis' "Morning Glory" played by Neil Young, I could totally picture that. If not, then I'd like to hear John Williams conduct a Symphony for "Sympathy for the Devil"

How about Motorhead doing a cover of the Mike Flowers Pops cover of Light My Fire?

Paul Levesque (Bryan Moore), Sunday, 20 July 2003 03:44 (twenty-two years ago)

OH and I'd love to hear a male rock band cover the Corrs "Breathless"

Bryan Moore (Bryan Moore), Sunday, 20 July 2003 03:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Bob Dylan doing "Stuck in the Middle With You."

Radiohead doing the Stones' "Dead Flowers."

Phish doing "Gin and Juice" so people no longer credit them instead of the Gourds.

The Flaming Lips playing Cat Stevens' "Father and Son" since they already did it but called it "Fight Test."

Tom Waits doing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

The Beach Boys coming back to life and reuniting to do "Holidays in the Sun." Requires tons of harmony.

Neil Young doing "Sweet Home Alabama." (Also, Ice Cube doing "Bitch in Yoo." And on and on.)

Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and others doing a superstar version of the Velvet Underground's "Heroin."

Talking Heads doing "Brass in Pocket" or "Heart of Glass."

Finally, David Bowie doing "Enter Sandman."

And we need more weird ODB covers. Maybe "On the Road Again"?

Phish doing "Gin and Juice" so people no longer credit them instead of the Gourds

What AHF MEANS to say is that he wishes people would no longer be incorrect in crediting Phish in that Gin and Juice cover which was in fact played by the Gourds... Rest of his list rules

Bryan Moore (Bryan Moore), Sunday, 20 July 2003 04:11 (twenty-two years ago)

...except the Flaming Lips thing, which seems to assume it was an intentional rip off...

>> ...except the Flaming Lips thing, which seems to assume it was an intentional rip off...

I read somewhere that Wayne Coyne only realized it when they were finishing up the album, but he didn't want to change the song...

Adam Harrison-Friday, Sunday, 20 July 2003 04:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm surprised he realized it at all. There's so many songs out there and I rip them off all the time totally by accident.

"She's A Rainbow" covered by Daft Punk (...or Air)
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" covered by Hafler Trio (or zoviet::france)

or wot the hell, lots and lots of wot B'Laswell has ever done could be remixed/re-recorded by the team of zoviet::france, Kip Hanrahan, Pascal Comelade, Hal willner & Springheel Jack, with Laibach and Missy featured for good measure...

another thing: somebody give Henry Threadgill a grant to re-arrange/re-orchestrate every single Craig Armstrong album

mandy moore doing everything i've ever heard, given "coverage" (with the exception of "senses working overtime," "i feel the earth move," and "one way or another," though this is the fault of her producer(s), i think, what with the crappy record scratching fx and other kool-modernish bullshit distracting on those particular tracks - and even those are near misses, i say, while the rest are totally wicked-awesome!! and mandy herself comes correct on all twelve anyway.).

please direct me to a thread about "coverage."

oh yeah, and i've said it before on some similar covers thread but i still want an andrew wk - we got the beat.mp3

thanks, friends.

brian badword (badwords), Monday, 1 December 2003 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)
