William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 20 July 2003 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

william, have you seen this webpage: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/releases/

DJ Martian (djmartian), Sunday, 20 July 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

No, but again it's not so much use cos it's only got six on it, five of which I spotted elsewhere. Except for Kosheen... which might need some checking.

Also, the pictures at the bottom don't suggest that Radio 1 pay too much attention to the page...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 20 July 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, updated 10am Monday: TOTP new single releases
http://www.bbc.co.uk/totp/features/new_releases/

DJ Martian (djmartian), Sunday, 20 July 2003 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

aha, but not as great as this :
http://www.top40-charts.com/news.php?nid=5243
site also has the charts for loads of other countries as
well as a europe top 100. where else can you find out that
kurt is number 1 in norway with 'she's so high'???

*imagines cobain covering blur....shudders*

joni, Sunday, 20 July 2003 19:30 (twenty-two years ago)

oh i'm getting obsessed now, its not the blur song but
go and have a look at kurt & read the lyrics....apparently
he was the winner of Norwegian pop idol!
(begs the question, what were the others like?)
http://home.broadpark.no/~jjiverse/kurt/kurt.htm

joni, Sunday, 20 July 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

After inspection, Ed O's score adjusted to 108.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 20 July 2003 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Joni - that site would actually appear to be rather useful... ta for pointing it out...

(think steve linked to it last week too, but for some reason it was crap. Odd.)

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 20 July 2003 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Right, I'm not risking no midweek happenings this time.

DANIEL BEDINGFIELD - Never Gonna Leave Your Side - 7
STEREOPHONICS - Maybe Tomorrow - 4
DEEPEST BLUE - Deepest Blue - 11
ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS - Swing Swing - 14

JD - Signal - 46
SPACE COWBOY - Just Put Your Hand In Mine - 40

#30 - Kym Marsh

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Sunday, 20 July 2003 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

WBS is god. That is all. Except for this, obviously:

DANIEL BEDINGFIELD - Never Gonna Leave Your Side - 9
STEREOPHONICS - Maybe Tomorrow - 6 (wishful thinking: this song will flop worse than Appleton. No. Wishful thinking: this band will split and NOT have solo careers)
DEEPEST BLUE - Deepest Blue - 14
ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS - Swing Swing - 3
TRIPLE 8 - Give Me A Reason - 7
GOLDFRAPP - Strict Machine - 20 (Oy you! What are you doing reading ILM right now? WHY ARE YOU NOT RUSHING TO THE STORE TO BUY THIS SINGLE?)
CERYS MATTHEWS - Caught In The Middle - 16
JD - Signal - 33
SPACE COWBOY - Just Put Your Hand In Mine - 57 (Iif I Would Die 4 U, one of the best songs ever, couldn't crack the top 40, as if this has a chance.)
SNOOKER ft. JIMMY WHITE - Minted - 25

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 21 July 2003 06:34 (twenty-two years ago)

#1 - Beyonce - Crazy In Love (still!)
#30 - Madonna - Hollywood

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 21 July 2003 06:36 (twenty-two years ago)

edward 'I Would Die 4 U' would've been top 10 but for some sort of barcode error making many copies of the single ineligible for the chart, or something!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 21 July 2003 09:26 (twenty-two years ago)

i really wish Goldfrapp would be #1 this Sunday. its not THAT amazing but it really does remind me of a robotised Donna Summer dancing in the fires of tomorrow, or maybe just the fires of 1983.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 21 July 2003 09:27 (twenty-two years ago)

its bugging me how i keep getting release dates wrong! so Tiga is not out today? ok but surely Maria Wilson should replace this Jimmy White thing? no matter...

holding off my predictions til tomorrow if thats okay

stevem (blueski), Monday, 21 July 2003 09:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Woolworths has the Stereophonics at #1!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 21 July 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Root. My typing has gone to shit. All American Rejects should be #13, not #3.

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Maria Wilson and Tiga would both appear to be out next week...

Neil FC, Monday, 21 July 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, so I been done clicked that TOTP new releases button, and it reckons Maria Wilson IS out this week... my head is severely swimming at the moment. I will walk by HMV & Virgin on the way home, get Phantom Power from whichever has it cheapest (if anyone can tell me which that is in advance would be v. appreciated)... and then we will see. If she is out, I'll add her to the list, supplementary style.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

ah why bother really...altho i like this idea of throwing in an extra choice last minute, Big Brother style

stevem (blueski), Monday, 21 July 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

SNOOKER ft. JIMMY WHITE - Minted #87

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 06:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Deepest Blue is a dreary summer-house track - nowhere near as good as Lacquer's 'Behind' (for a better example), tho it could well scrape the top 10

DANIEL BEDINGFIELD - Never Gonna Leave Your Side - 6 (I had to sit through this fucking album the other day. Why oh why is a bedroom musician doing a 2003 Robert Palmer act considered a "good" thing?)
STEREOPHONICS - Maybe Tomorrow - 5 (Go away.)
DEEPEST BLUE - Deepest Blue - 11 (It's the feelgood tune of the summer! Oh, no, it's a load of trance shite. Sorry)

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i havent heard the JD thing and have no idea what it sounds like - so i like to think its JD from Scrubs's debut single

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:55 (twenty-two years ago)

JD is the MC off Lisa Maffia's last single.

Dom and Jel haven't predicted #1 or #30.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Jacob (Jacob), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 08:16 (twenty-two years ago)

#1 Beyonce
#30 SFA

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 08:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Alex, Skidmore, Siegbran, Dods & May yet to pick... (unless any of them are Neil FC - if he's new, though, then welcome!)

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 08:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I was eagerly awaiting the midweeks but no sign yet. Maybe I'll use a pin and an atlas to pick this week. Or something.

Alex in Rotherham (Alex in Doncaster), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I have sort of seen the midweeks in the popbitch email this morning...

Dear God, but they're dull.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 24 July 2003 08:50 (twenty-two years ago)

All I will say is there's currently seven new entries, of which I missed out on putting one in the picks.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 24 July 2003 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Cerys misses out on the forty? Shameful...

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Thursday, 24 July 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't seen these midweeks. They don't seem to be up on Playlouder... where can they be seen? (I want to know how totally wrong I am about Space Cowboy, Goldfrapp and All American Rejects!)

edward o (edwardo), Friday, 25 July 2003 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

can someone post a URL for these elusive midweeks, please?

russ t, Friday, 25 July 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno where they are, other than Playlouder.com (but not this week) and the vague approximations at the end of Popbitch.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 25 July 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

DANIEL BEDINGFIELD - Never Gonna Leave Your Side #5 (really not one of his better efforts IMO)
STEREOPHONICS - Maybe Tomorrow #7 (i wish it were likely to be lower)
DEEPEST BLUE - Deepest Blue #13
ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS - Swing Swing #19
TRIPLE 8 - Give Me A Reason #10
GOLDFRAPP - Strict Machine #27
CERYS MATTHEWS - Caught In The Middle #35
JD - Signal #28
SPACE COWBOY - Just Put Your Hand In Mine #55
SNOOKER ft. JIMMY WHITE - Minted #41 (oh unlucky; can't say i've heard this, but i almost feel i have...)

#1: Beyonce rather.
#30: the SFA's single.

Tom May (Tom May), Friday, 25 July 2003 21:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry to be late! Not been on ILM all week. I've not seen the midweeks, but I accept that you don't know that. So, more wild guesses:

DANIEL BEDINGFIELD - Never Gonna Leave Your Side #2

JD - Signal #36
SPACE COWBOY - Just Put Your Hand In Mine #38
SNOOKER ft. JIMMY WHITE - Minted #50

Madonna at #30, Beyonce holding #1. I've actually heard one of the records this week! The Bedingfield. Not sure it helps me.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 26 July 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

i should have gone with my initial instinct about Bedingo.

#30 Yomanda
#1 Beyonce

Siegbran (eofor), Sunday, 27 July 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

posting on the day is just too audacious Siegbran!

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 27 July 2003 10:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I've just found out that the Jimmy White song is for charity, so it'll go top 20 at least.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 July 2003 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

fwiw, The Delays "Hey Girl" new @ #40...

Siegbran (eofor), Sunday, 27 July 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

No-one will believe me, but The Delays first single was tops. Hey Girl, though, is rubbish. Ah well. #30 on the horizon, Furries are early fallers (only #36... I hate people)...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Yomanda also gone, and Jennifer Ellison goes up four to #31. Not relevant, but I just thought I'd like to present further evidence of the world being pants...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

#30...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

(I've not done the spreadsheet yet, which is a bit silly of me...)

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

but anyway...

#30...

is...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

It's In Da Club! 10 points to Alex...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Xtina's just gone up 9. Crap week ahoy!

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Goldfrapp #25!

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

William, were Killing Joke a 1 week chart wonder or are they still in the top 40?

DJ Martian (djmartian), Sunday, 27 July 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

And that result catapults Alex into the lead, on 110... he got 5, as did Jacob and Dom, with messrs Jel and May each picking up a single...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

The Joke are gone, I do believe. Unless they've climbed this week, which I don't think they will have...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

We are waiting for five singles. Not looking forward to hearing any of them. This week's chart is gonna suck, but here we go anyway...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

JD, Cerys and Space Cowboy not in the top 40? blimey...

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 27 July 2003 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

The Rejects are #13. This chart is rubbish.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Steve, Siegbran, Alex, Lid, Mitchell and Ian all get five. Jel gets 1.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

William, you know why the charts are Xtra shite this week?..the kiddies are out in force everyday buying tripe [first week of Summer Holidays]

DJ Martian (djmartian), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Triple 8 #9... I'm thrilled...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

triple 8, never heard of them - they must be a smash hits/ popworld type band.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Martian, you chat shit. Triple 8 are the one kid-targeted act this week, and they're #9. The top three new entries are Bedingfield, Stereophonics, and Deepest Blue. There is FUCK ALL OUT THIS WEEK. You can't blame Cerys Matthews not going top 40 on Fearne Cotton.

Points wise Russ' continual policy of backing Bristol nets him five, Tom May also gets 5, and Ed, Mitchell and Dom all get 1.

I. Am. Bored.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

how many kiddies pop music mags are there thesedays?

DJ Martian (djmartian), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Wes, gets paid a 100k a year to do the chart countdown.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Deepest Blue #7... Mitchell, Alex, Jacob, Skidmore all notch 5. I get one. Go me.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

FCK ME! BEDINGFIELD #1!

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

FCK ME!

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

FCKETTY FCKETTY FCK FCK!

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

(Also - Stereophonics #3. 10 for Mitchell, 5 each Skidmore, Russ, Ian and Alex, 1 for me, Dom and Lid.)

FCK!

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Bedingfield-wise, Skidmore, Alex, Lid, Mitchell and Jacob score 5, Siegbran gets one.

And no-one gets the number one bonus. Bloody hell.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

And that bizarre, misspelt outburst propels me to 23rd in the ILM users list. My head is whizzy-whizz all over...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

worst chart ever.

(i got no points as well.....sob)

comic book guy, Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Uh. Crikey.

Outside the top 40 - Cerys Matthews #47, JD #64, Space Cowboy #71, Jimmy White didn't make the top 100.

Those last three all got outsold by... The Tindersticks, who were #60. I am a bit confused.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

worst chart ever by a million miles

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 27 July 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

New thread in a little bit.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 27 July 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I was so close to putting down Bedingfield for #1, too...

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Sunday, 27 July 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

i only get 5 pts this week thanks to Kezza & The Stezzas. maybe i should go back to posting my predictions on Sunday night hm

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 27 July 2003 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't I get 10 for All American Rejects? (I mistyped and corrected a few posts further down).
