Wishlist is finally working. LFO - Sheath appeared in my wishlist on ssk. Its going very slowly though. Noone seems to have it on ordinary ssk, just the Isle.
But has anyone here actually heard it? I still havent heard the single 'Freak' but apparently its very old skool LFO.

LFO Fan, Monday, 21 July 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

see my thread on 'freak' (although no one answered it much). 'freak is wicked! it is basivcally a track from 1992, but its still good dirty fun. donyt know about the album, but i might hear that soon.

ambrose (ambrose), Monday, 21 July 2003 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I downloaded it off Vinyl_Ritchie. (or was it Vinyl Ritchie )

Rashid, Monday, 21 July 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i found the album on slsk - it kickied in after being in a queue for 13 hours just for the tracks to be super distorted. i kept waiting for alec empire to start singing

frenchbloke (frenchbloke), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 06:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i liked the single a lot for the first couple of minutes, but then it got pretty boring. a friend of mine was at the album launch party on sunday and described the album as 'dull'. that said, i'm sure i'll end up downloading it eventually...

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 06:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I downloaded off that guy. The album is a fake. Its just noise. And 'freak' certainly isnt whats out as the single.

Keith baker, Tuesday, 22 July 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't care about soulseek. When is this bitch in stores already?

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 20:51 (twenty-two years ago)

you may be able to pre-order on Warp's website very soon of not already

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
Bump.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Have you heard it?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 12:02 (twenty-two years ago)

The first track, Blown is fucking beautiful... really, really lovely stuff. Not sure about the rest of it yet... very Black Dog in places though.

Freak is marvellous.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a bit excited about this now, thanks

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

i wondered why my version of "blown" was all noise and simon reynolds made it sound like winsome childhood boards of nostalgia idyllitronica etc. i like noise, i thought maybe i wasn't listening hard enough. it sounds like blown speakers.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

freak is def the best thing on it.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

freak is awesome, don't know (care?) about the album

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

This thing is really, really fantastic. It's like they rewound the world back to "Digeridoo" and said, "Yo, remember THIS? This was the shit, yeah?"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

What a great, great come-back album.

stevo (stevo), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

mitch you may have gotten a fake copy which is nothing but noize!

this is a very, very good album.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 01:29 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah gabbo, i knew that my ver was a fake after reading keith's post. anyway, i'm getting the real thing know and it sound movillus.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 09:10 (twenty-two years ago)

"Noone seems to have it on ordinary ssk, just the Isle. "

what is the isle?

robin (robin), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 09:14 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe I'll just buy it

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Blown is SHOEGAZING, it's just occurred to me... it's like Slowdive or Mogwai or something gone techno.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

ooer...maybe I better not.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm thinking more in terms of atmospherics and fuzz and general dreaminess than actual sounds, by the way.

The second one, Mumm-Meh is pure mentalism. Heavy earbleed lunacy.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

ooer...maybe I better not.

No, I rather think you should.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I should love this...but somehow don't. (although I love Freak and Mumm-Meh, the other stuff is just too Black Dogish...too, eh, musical? ;)

Omar (Omar), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i agree with Matt DC abt 'Blown' - really good. not heard the rest yet

zebedee (zebedee), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyone heard 'millionaire dogs'? That space-age pimp one. Not sure if it's on the album (some Japanese bonus track)

nick.K (nick.K), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

this thread isn't about the Lite Funky Ones is it?

i don't understand why i don't like LFO considering I've always been a huge fan of Warp. Both albums were really dull to me, despite the fact I'm looking forward to hearing what Sheath will be like.

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 24 September 2003 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

This is very, very fine indeed.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
feel the live LFO vibes, motherfuckers!

vahid (vahid), Friday, 5 December 2003 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

revive?

vahid (vahid), Friday, 5 December 2003 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks for the link!

The live set is pretty raw dog. The four ambient techno bits on this record start off my latest mix cd. I actually like the new stuff better than the "classics" from back in the day.

Nihilist Pop Star (mjt), Saturday, 6 December 2003 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

do you have any idea what the r+b song he samples is? it comes in a few minutes before the 2nd station announcement. at first i thought it was a very popular us r+b song that i couldn't name, then i got to thinking maybe it was a trip-hop thing, like spacek or something that i'd heard somewhere. it's driving me nuts!

vahid (vahid), Saturday, 6 December 2003 02:37 (twenty-two years ago)

ah-ha! to answer my own question (in case anybody was wondering) it's a snippet of dwele singing the real love, oh real love hook on slum village's "tainted love". it comes in at about 8:27 if anybody's curious.

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 7 December 2003 01:01 (twenty-two years ago)

three months pass...
Track 2 just scared the shit out me.

Lukas (lukas), Thursday, 11 March 2004 07:22 (twenty-two years ago)

yep, it'll do that. Good tho.

hmmm (hmmm), Thursday, 11 March 2004 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

six years pass...

Halfway in, this album is very nice but not the Frequencies/Advance level of mindblowing/innovative I was hoping for. That being said, "Snot" and "Freak" are quite excellent.

mother cabrini maxwell (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 27 October 2010 14:56 (fifteen years ago)

There are very few things that have that level of mindblowing/innovative. But it does have some great tracks on it.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 27 October 2010 15:02 (fifteen years ago)

TBH I was hoping the rest of the album would be as hyperactive-schizoid as "Freak"

mother cabrini maxwell (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 27 October 2010 15:28 (fifteen years ago)

eleven years pass...

i had only ever listened to frequencies for whatever stupid reason but i heard advance and sheath today and i really enjoyed the former but for whatever stupid reason sheath may be my favorite thing... in the world....

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Thursday, 9 June 2022 22:15 (four years ago)

bangs hard, is the reason

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Thursday, 9 June 2022 22:17 (four years ago)

"Butterslut" >>>>

boxedjoy, Friday, 10 June 2022 06:55 (four years ago)

Recall mark bell dropping a couple of very Sheath-y bangers that sounded like new LFO at the end of his Ae ATP dj set, before Sheath came out, that I don’t think turned up on the lp alas. Same with the weightless-sounding LFO track that only came out on the Warp Lighthouse Party freebie cd a year? before Sheath, wish that had been on the album too…

this is excellent, a live recording where he makes everything even more banging
