Anybody seen this? Apparently its out on vid/dvd in the UK, but not the US. Its about time the public can rightly discover the genius that was Bruce Haack.

his best bits were jaw droppingly futuristic but most of it really did sound "novelty" hmmm...

bob snoom, Thursday, 24 July 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah...yeah.. i know he's great, but I am willing to offer good money for a dubbed copy of King. He made his own instruments, made trippy space waltzs, and is a beacon in the vast mediocrity that is/was electronic music. Someone show some love maaan!

thomas de'aguirre (biteylove), Thursday, 24 July 2003 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

So what if he's novelty? It's not like it's annoyingly jokey, it's just fun.

electric lucifer = best album name ever

This man is the greatest electronic musician who has ever lived. Move over postal service, no thanks cut copy. Bruce Haack is here to take the award for most ingenuity and creativity inthe genre of electronic music. This guy is the king.

This may be the worst movie I've ever seen. Definitely the worst docu. It's just a bunch of context-free bullshit ramblings of a bunch of assholes from the tribute comp (plus the Eels guy, whose music I don't rly like, but who is a charming guy in this & in that Nova special abt his dad). They'd play songs and not say their title or anything about them. They would have recorded voiceovers and not say who was saying the quote. There was five minutes of some hairy-shouldered guy in a wife beater dancing around in headphones on the subway (they didn't say who this guy was or why he was in the film, either). It's "how not to make a move" 101. It's sad bcz I wanted to know more abt Bruce Haack!

The only good footage in it was him on Mister Rogers back when it was b&w. Which they followed with some dumb shit in Oakleys and a poncho saying, "Yeah, that Mister Rogers episode...it was trippy."

Yeah jeez... Talk about a documentary not doing it's job. I watched this and learned basically nothing about Haack or his discography. The talking heads in it were either really fried out and/or lame musicians (aside from mark e who is always affable/cogent) who really had no connection to Haack other than the tribute album or old people who had a connection to Haack in some way that is never clarified. It was a total mess, and had a bunch of "zany" toaster effects in it that made it basically infuriating to watch.
