INXS is a band that seems pretty dorky, really, but somehow managed to seem sort of skilled, dignified, dangerous and ROCKIN' to the general public for a number of years, despite the fact that bands like the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, etc. were already in existence.

XTC is a band that approached music the way I would like to-- in the studio ONLY, to hell with live shows-- and in other ways, XTC is a band that approached music in a way I would NOT like to-- for instance, they really, really, really sound gay and I don't mean that as a put-down but there's something about their sound that, like Erasure, really strikes my ears as gay and I really like them heaps better than INXS, by the way (what was that album-- Skylarking?).
