Am I the only one who knows and likes Chris Connelly?

Ex-industrial vocalist with Ministry, since then the author of a few sublime Bowie-esque solo albums. "Blonde Exodus" is just so crammed with great pop hooks I don't understand why it wasn't a huge hit. "Largo", his collaboration with Bill Rieflin, is a beautiful piano-led work that evokes Wyatt and Cale.

Is anyone else here a fan

Very much a fan here. :-) If you check the All Music Guide entry for him I ramble on a bit there. I haven't paid much attention to him recently -- don't have the new Bells album, f'r instance -- but his early albums are all spiff and he put on a fine show in the mid-nineties (and did a great cover of "Cracked Actor," to continue the Bowie obsession -- not far from Scott Walker either, thus the cover of "The Amorous Humphrey Plugg").

Phenobarb Bambalan is definitely my favorite album of his, fantastic the whole way through and really much more subtle than could have been expected given his previous work.

His best vocal is still on PTP's "Rubber Glove Seduction", though.

So, no, Susan -- apparently, three other people like him, too.

Not me, though...

He's like Drake meets early Bowie....or something...but not really.

Damo_Suzuki himself turned me onto Connelly's solo work.

I heard he still works down at Reckless Records in Chicago...is this true?

two years pass...
I know him from his WaxTrax stuff with Ministry and Pigface. Can someone gimme a s/d? I've got Private Education from a dollar bin, but I'm not wild about it. Anything um.. weirder? The sub-Bowie accoustic stuff wasn't really what I expected.

one year passes...

New autobiography out now, titled Concrete. Bulletproof. Invisible + Fried: My Life as a Revolting Cock. Very entertaining.

I like Chris fine... I fondly remember him in Revco shaking his fist and screaming (all 150 lbs of him) "I'm a Killing Machine!".

I guess he's not doing that anymore ;)

Will never forgive him for pooping all over Murder Inc. and Damage Manual (two collectives with such promise, scuttled by CC's drab vocals), but he seems like a nice enough gent.

He's very nice -- interviewed him before that show I mentioned way upthread, quite affable and chatty. Need to pick up that new album on Current 93's label; picked up just about everything of his I didn't have already in the Tower implosion.
