So, what did YOU do today?

I interviewed Karen O earlier today! I think it went really well, though I HATE the sound of my voice on tape. It's not quite as bad when I followed up her answers with off-the-cuff questions (sounds more conversational), but otherwise I sound embarrassingly like I'm reading my questions off a sheet of paper (which I, of course, was). Otherwise, it was great. I probably sounded pretty starstruck, too; hopefully not TOO fanboyish. Plusm it WAS my first interview with anyone who actually matters (well, besides chatting at length off the record with Jeff Tweedy a little while back). Anyhoo, it was very cool. Check it out:

From midnight onwards I was taking lots of odd pictures and drinking red wine. Then I put Independency on repeat and went to bed I'm about to feed the cat and then go shit/shower/shave.

When I was 19 years old in 1991 I interviewed Juliana Hatfield.

It was really fucking cool.

I think the next week I interviewed the Unsane. Weasel Walter was there; I met him for the first time. We sort of did a "joint" (multivalence as you will) interview. I think we were the only two people at the whole show.

Like six months later or something Charlie Ondras was dead. I've never done an interview since then.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 26 July 2003 07:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh shit, wait, I just remembered all that shit went down in '92. I guess I was 20. Oh fuck also I forgot I did interview Antiseen before I hung up the ole shoes.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 26 July 2003 07:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Rachael and I finished a song yesterday. Now's she's singing along to it at the top of her voice in the other room, the mediocre pasta I prepared earlier abandoned. Three to go and the album's finished.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 26 July 2003 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I interviewed Richard X. So okay it was last week. But I had to one-up ya. ;-)

nathalie (nathalie), Saturday, 26 July 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Very cool guy.

Sami (Sami), Saturday, 26 July 2003 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I watched a bit of cricket, and watched some wrestling. I had a ham sandwich for lunch.

David A. (Davant), Saturday, 26 July 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I ate some corn pops, read an X-Men comic, and phoned my parents. Now I'm off to look at some apartments. I haven't interviewed anyone yet, but I was once asked to interview The Wannadies for my university radio station. I declined.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Saturday, 26 July 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Casper: Rehh.

i only just got out of bed today. yesterday i wrote a song, its not very angsty, its even sort of in a major key.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 26 July 2003 23:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Can you tell us three words from that song, words that are not adjacent to each other?

OleM (OleM), Saturday, 26 July 2003 23:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Like 4 years ago my friends/ex-bandmates interviewed Jerry Only (they would be my still-bandmates but I joined the USAF 4 years ago and left like an idiot), but today I drank a minikeg of Warsteiner, just because:
A) I never drank a minikeg before
B) Way less bottles to throw away.

And then I tried to get down that opening riff from Turbonego's "Prince of the Rodeo", but failed, because my fingers don't move that fast after a gallon of beer.

ANd then I plan on watching "They Live" on AMC at 1130 (Eastern).

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Saturday, 26 July 2003 23:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Exactly how large is a minikeg? My query stems from curiosity, not professional diligence. Oh no.

OleM (OleM), Saturday, 26 July 2003 23:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Okeydoke, bro, the side o' the keg says:

5 liter Frisch genie(that S sounding B lookin letter)en!
1.3 US Gallon
1.1 Imp. Gallon
169 fl. oz. (US)
174 fl. oz. (Imp)

All I know is that it spent me a good 1 1/2 hours before I had to tap into my case of Dos Equis (of which I'm on my 3rd bottle and 3rd lime wedge).

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Sunday, 27 July 2003 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I interviewed Karen O earlier today!

your interview contains the following line:
Karen O: Yeah yeah yeah. He's gotten so brutal that it's kind of hard to watch his films anymore.

sharp jagger, Sunday, 27 July 2003 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

A fivelitre -- tay tay tay RESPECTABLE

Wie gross ist dann ein echter Keg? As opposed to einer Mini

OleM (OleM), Sunday, 27 July 2003 00:30 (twenty-two years ago)

With all that krautspeak you must be mistaking me for my wife (who when to Germany 2X in highschool). All I can say to you is
Und keiner eier
Ich bin ein Berliner
and
Nim sie rousch und erschie sie.
And of course, Ich bin svie CocaColalite, bitter (which is what my wife said to the snackbar attendant on the train).

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Sunday, 27 July 2003 00:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Helltime -- sometimes I sort-of-mistake you for people -- but I don't think it's your wife. (Did I?).

Remind your wife of excellent German pop song title "Ich werde in der Sonne immer dicker".

OleM (OleM), Sunday, 27 July 2003 00:51 (twenty-two years ago)

we went to the glasshouse stores and got pissed yo

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 27 July 2003 00:59 (twenty-two years ago)

at first I tried to put some intelligible response, but the beer is fighting me, so I will start a new thread...

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Sunday, 27 July 2003 01:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I just completed mixing recordings of my band. My ears are completely burned after about six hours of mixing. I wanted to go out tonight, but I ended up getting started late, so now I am having a beer at home.

earlnash, Sunday, 27 July 2003 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

okay, oleM, here goes: you, the, or.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 27 July 2003 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Went in to record a band rehearsal for a project I'm going to produce. The goddamn studio had Cubase and no engineer so my clueless Logic-using self had to figure out how to get the recording done on Cubase. It was a mess, though the band sounds good.
But, before that, bought 2 mix cd's from my boy the "mixtape vendor" on 14th and 6th : a summer bangers mix and Snoop Dogg's "Welcome To Da Chuuch Vol. 1". Which rocks.
Afterwards, met my wife for dinner and after coming back home watched "Wild Strawberries".

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Sunday, 27 July 2003 04:37 (twenty-two years ago)

That's funny because I actually just finished watching Bergman's Shame.

Josh Timmermann (Josh Timmermann), Sunday, 27 July 2003 06:25 (twenty-two years ago)

"today", huh? just got back in town a coupla hours ago...
...but in the morning - that was the morning after celebratin' my mother's 72nd birthday - woke up at the fairly decent 10:00;
then together with my pa, relieved our miniature potato "field" of most of the bad weeds, and afterwards we two took 10 free throws each at our miniature basketball "court" - pa (70) did 4 outta ten, i managed 9 - and after that... t'was soon time to take the bus.

(my mem'ry being not its best t'day, i'm not quite sure wether the last music-related interview i did was two or three years ago :-)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 27 July 2003 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

thomas de'aguirre (biteylove), Sunday, 27 July 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Lets see... Checked on my Slsk DLs from overnight. Very nice. Horrific Child, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Bardo Pond. Had breakfast. A bagel. Swept walkway & driveway, played soccer w/ the kids. Did a load of laundry. Cleaned up all of the shit from our 17-yr.-old cat who won't use the litter box except to piss. More Slsk, with messages to pals. Listend to Sunburned Hand. Yummy. Queued up FIlle Qui Mousse to DL. Looking forward to yummy dinner......

John Bullabaugh (John Bullabaugh), Sunday, 27 July 2003 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)
