piscesboy, Monday, 28 July 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Big article in today's Guardian about the licensing/backscratching orgy that is Motorola/MTV Mash as well - boots ain't going anywhere for the time being at least.

Mind you, anyone heard the utterly bloody hopeless "cover" of "Last Nite"/"Heart Of Glass" by some dizzy disco bint or other? Utter utter rub, Liberty X must be pissing themselves.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:41 (twenty-two years ago)

well piscesboy i aint no Frenchbloke but there was this and this

stevem (blueski), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

the annoying thing about people questioning the legality of Q's or MTV Mash's bootleg videos is that nobody seemed to mind when they used to do it on MTV's old dance shows like Party Zone and Megamix - these were far superior as well.

and does anyone remember the BBC show Uncut Funk which did some great mash-ups like Faith Evans vs Lauryn Hill? this was back in '99 or so.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep. And it was funny too. sometimes.

Nathan W (Nathan Webb), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Charlie that was Vitamin C and it was rather good I thought.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom! Don't fail me now...it was terrible. But thanks for the warning - I shall treat any further releases from the aforementioned with the scepticism and wariness usually reserved for seemingly resting spiders.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

frenchbloke (frenchbloke), Monday, 28 July 2003 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this sums up the bootleg scene

Mike Paradinas- "The phrase "Utter Rubbish" springs to mind"

Savin All My Love 4 u (Savin 4ll my (heart) 4u), Monday, 28 July 2003 23:46 (twenty-two years ago)

These boots aint made for hawkin

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't like many of dsico's bootlegs but they always were deliberately 'difficult' - his cut-up glitchy Paradinasy stuff is better - but i don't suppose Mike P has heard that as he seems to have his head in the sand a bit about this particular area. IDM trounces mash-ups in terms of creativity and technical merit, but mash-ups tend to be a lot more fun.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

*just realises the brilliance of nick's last remark*

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 08:30 (twenty-two years ago)

so...call me ole mr. slow-on-the-uptake here
but are you, stevem, the chap behind boom selection *itself*
or have i got the wrong end of the pole here ?

piscesboy, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i was just the tea-lady
