Estranged LIBERTINES co-frontman PETE DOHERTY has been arrested for burglary.

Pete was arrested on Friday night (July 25) after allegedly entering a basement flat in central London. He made a brief appearance in Horseferry Magistrates Court today where he was bailed until August 11.

In June Pete failed to turn up for a European tour, and has not performed with the group since.

The band’s new single ‘Don’t Look Back Into The Sun’ - featuring the full line-up - is due to be released on August 18.

The Libertines are the most exciting kick ass band in many a moon and have restored my faith in rock and roll to be unpredictable, compulsive and really fucking exciting and I love "Up the Bracket" (the album) sooo much. I just think they are brill, brill, brill.

one year passes...

Pete Doherty appears at Bow Road magistrates' court later today after being 'too ill' to turn up last week.

Apparently the spin put on it is that he was arrested after the police found a flick knife in his car and charged with possession of a concealed weapon, whereas he was actually caught driving without insurance, which is far less - but probably more - rock 'n' roll.

Will it be a fine/conviction/community service/let off/failure to turn up/tonnes of publicity? The 'build-up' starts here...
