There is a God.

maria b (maria b), Monday, 28 July 2003 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't listen to Mancow in the Morning (pats self on back), but is anyone here familiar with what the 'Cow was saying about Red Hat in the days leading up to this show? Curious minds and all..

Baked Bean Teeth (Baked Bean Teeth), Monday, 28 July 2003 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Durst trashes both the Cubs and the Sox while in Chicago = either a reckless fool or just a fool (I vote the latter).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 20:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I never listen to Mancow cause he sucks beyond belief. What did he say?

oops (Oops), Monday, 28 July 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

It's OK, Ned: we know our baseball teams suck. Now, if he'd slammed Brian Urlacher...

Baked Bean Teeth (Baked Bean Teeth), Monday, 28 July 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I would have prefered this story if somehow both Mancow and Fred Durst could have been humiliated at the same event.

amateurist (amateurist), Monday, 28 July 2003 20:58 (twenty-two years ago)

the article forgets to mention him firing at the audience!

Fan I remain (the new guitarist, at the very least, looks cool), I'm not surprised that the backlash has truly begun. Maybe this will inspire him to focus solely on Pacifica, whose allegedly Duran Duran like songs will be more to Ned's liking.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 28 July 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Great, with Jonathan Davis on board as well then we could have the Duran Duran tribute band by the guys who weren't beat up enough in high school by the jocks who hated them causing them to create music for those jocks in a desperate attempt to fit in instead of finding a way to move beyond their miserable high school past band.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 21:05 (twenty-two years ago)

At least somebody's coming to their senses! Viva Chi Cityyy!

Jay K (Jay K), Monday, 28 July 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

*considers re-reading a few issues of 'why music sucks', esp. social maps, before attempting to read Ned's above post for a fourth time*

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 28 July 2003 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

It's OK, Ned: we know our baseball teams suck. Now, if he'd slammed Brian Urlacher...

It's true; we're still in denial about the Bears ...

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Monday, 28 July 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

t\'\'t, put quotes before 'tribute' and after 'past' to create a descriptive phrase. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

that poor idiot durst really likes to set himself up for the big fall,
he moves thru mega-stardom as if it's a never-ending frat party,
where he's the host and he picks the music and what porn videos will be playing on the (soundless, flatscreen) t.v. next to the keg. i can imagine him screaming at some poor intern " this bong isnt big enough!!" "go out and get me a BIGGER bong"
just to give himself enough alone time to pull his boxers around his ankles and beat-off to laura crofts ass on the playstation cause hes got her angled into some corner in some 3-d dongeon. what a friggin foolish,
boorish PUKE!!!!

kelly denison-cole (dustjacket), Monday, 28 July 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I continue to be amazed how many people listen with their eyes.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 28 July 2003 22:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Seeing with your ears ain't much better!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

but on ILM, how you see shouldn't be much of an issue.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 28 July 2003 22:52 (twenty-two years ago)

YOU DISCRIMINATE AGAINST BLIND LISTENERS.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

how so? I just said seeing isn't an issue here.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 28 July 2003 23:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Goddamn, I should take my own advice and always include the ;-) after snarky comments.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 23:00 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, a proud chicagoan here

disco stu (disco stu), Monday, 28 July 2003 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

you Chicagoans haven't made a good band since Urge Overkill (Wilco doesn't count). So FUCK YOU ALL! Limp Bizkit

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 28 July 2003 23:13 (twenty-two years ago)

that made me laugh no matter how irrelevant it really is!

disco stu (disco stu), Monday, 28 July 2003 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

It's OK, Ned: we know our baseball teams suck. Now, if he'd slammed Brian Urlacher...
It's true; we're still in denial about the Bears ...

I'm sure Durnst is a BIG Packer fan.

you Chicagoans haven't made a good band since Urge Overkill (Wilco doesn't count). So FUCK YOU ALL! Limp Bizkit

You forgot to call us faggots.

nonthings (nonthings), Monday, 28 July 2003 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

nonthings, the last thing I'd want to imply is that Chicagoans did anything interesting.

Durst should retort with a bitter (and ironic!) cover of "Goodbye To Guyville"

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 28 July 2003 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

you Chicagoans haven't made a good band since Urge Overkill (Wilco doesn't count).

Someone has clearly forgotten the Shufflin' Crew, and their 'punky' front man as well ...

New thread: homoeroticism in sports (he's humping Walter Payton's leg!!) vs. homoeroticism in rock ("Dude, suck that shit!!") vs. homeroticism in posting ("SO FUCK YOU ALL!!) ???

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Monday, 28 July 2003 23:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Uh, didn't the Shufflin' Crew predate even Strange, I...?

Baked Bean Teeth (Baked Bean Teeth), Monday, 28 July 2003 23:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, he should just cover all of "Exit the Dragon". You can't polish a turd, but you sure can puke on it!

nonthings (nonthings), Monday, 28 July 2003 23:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Uh, didn't the Shufflin' Crew predate even Strange, I...?

Could be ... 85-86 is ground zero for both, though, I think ...

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 00:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Chicago, best city in the country! Limp Bizkit, piss poor.

Personally, I listen with my ears. However it's often easier to criticize the listening habits of others than realizing that perhaps the dull sounds of a mediocre and washed-up band are not to everyone's liking.

ham on rye (ham on rye), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)

"Self-Durst-ruction"
-Red Eye headline

Elliott (ebb), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

man, Red Eye is sooooo dumb.

praying mantis (praying mantis), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Any city you throws shit at and insults Fred Durst deserves my respect. Viva Chicago!
Anyway, reallyy funny yet completly impossible scenario would have been that Limp Bizkit opened for Slayer. i'm sure if he had yelled a "Bring it on!" in such a what if, a couple of Slayer fans would just have gone up stage and ripped his head off.

Cacaman Flores, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

hey, when all of America starts hating on Fred Durst, if they haven't already, are you guys going to become heavy duty patriots then?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Well yeah.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 01:56 (twenty-two years ago)
