Front-man charisma obviously being a nonfactor in the decision-making process ...

Please. Cum On Feel the Noize is far better.

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

They seem pretty similar to me ...

the former is better, but me and occasional ILM poster theodore fogelsanger agree that somebody needs to make "We're Not Gonna Take It" their campaign theme song FAST.

Howard Dean to thread ...

Better video?

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 01:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Wasn't WNGTI the dominant theme for post-9/11 patriotism? Or was that just in my apartment? I like the Slade version of COFTN better (assuming you mean the Quiet Riot version).
Round and Round vs. Cherry Pie?

I like the Slade version of COFTN better

Well yeah, it's no competition if we invoke the original ...

"Run Runaway" vs. "COMFTN" ??? (OG)

Round and Round vs. Cherry Pie?

Better song, "Round and Round." Better video, in a photo finish, "Cherry Pie."

Wasn't WNGTI the dominant theme for post-9/11 patriotism?

I believe that's so, with runner-up "Jerusalem." (The MES cover of William Blake's punk-rock classic, that is.)

"...I was, ah, very let down ... with the budget-ah ... I was expecting ... a one million quid handout. It was the government's fault ... it was the fault ... of the governmehahnt ..."

"We're Not Gonna Take It", easily.

They're the same song. And a wonderful song it is.

"COFTN" is the greatest song in the history of music but I like those funny Twisted Sister lyrics, "Your life is trite and jaded, bo-ring and confiscated"!!

Probably it's that tiny, sometimes nigh-unnoticeable touch of sadness, present in several of Slade's most raucous anthems, that almost never fails to win me over.
("We're Not Gonna Take It" is a great sneer-fest all the same.)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:25 (twenty-two years ago)

We're not gonna take it, definitely. Its more of a stupid loser anthem, in a time when stupid loser anthems weren't that hip and commercial. Com and feel the noise is just about partying.

We're Not Gonna Take It. And, while on the topic, TS kills QR entirely. QR really kind of sucked.

Scaredy Cat, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

"Your life is trite and jaded, bo-ring and confiscated"!!

"You don't know us / You don't belong!!"

(But what the fuck does "Oh crinch pin!!" mean??)

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

"We're Not Gonna Take it" wins because:

* it's not a grossly inferior version of a Slade song
* it's esentially Oi pop, with make-up and cowbell
* it's associated with Mark "Neidermeyer" Metcalf in one of the most brilliant videos ever made

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha, ok, my bad. I just blindly assumed the "Cum On" in question was the Quiet Riot cover. OK, hmmm.. lemme rethink this, then.
