I love when artists come into their own, man. Aaron Funk is a true innovator, people, and his new 7" is two sides of brilliance. Anyone heard this?

I also really like the Nymphomatriarch CD, btw

innovator?

Totally! The 7" is on some cut-up fusion shit. I don't know, it's sorta unclassifiable...it ain't the (usually killer) skronk i'm used to hearing from him

he does, like, cut up breaks stuff right? or am i thinking of someone else?

Usually mines the cut up / digi-noise / gutterglitch territory, but this new 7" (on Addict) is really the shit.

The Aquarius description said it had "slap bass" on it, which thoroughly depressed me.

The innovator tag has got to be a joke though. I mean I like some Venetian Snares stuff (a lot actually), but certainly nothing he's released can even be remotely classified as new, concept or sound-wise.

Chip Morningstar (bob), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:54 (twenty-two years ago)

?????? doubt it. not unless he got a new job sharpish. maybe you saw someone in a t shirt like his?

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

yes he's an innovator. he hopped the grid, try and tap your foot to his stuff and you'll break it. amazing sculpture.

'doll doll doll' still my favorite album overall, my hat's off

people really do seem to be confused about the definition of "innovator" here.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

the sounds he's using are fairly within the genre. but I never liked much of this music before, and I like snares.

he's great... but i wouldn't say he isn't skipping down the same path the likes of squarepusher and kid 606 already have.
