Shifting, Rattling Noises

What's all the business at the begining of "It's No Game (Part 1) on Bowie's Scary Monsters?

What's all the clinking, rummaging and clanking going on at the beginning of "Detroit Rock City" on Kiss' Destroyer (during the radio broadcast about the Detroit teenager killed in a car accident)?

What's going on with that dog just prior to the intro of "Been Caught Stealin'" by Jane's Addiction on Ritual De Lo Habitual?

What sort of machine is that supposed to be making all those weird noises during the coda of "Welcome To the Machine" by Pink Floyd on Wish You Were Here>

Answers & like-minded questions welcome.....

King of these: "Machines" by Manfred Mann. But I know those are just machines.

I was listening to new Hamell on Trial tracks - and this fuckin' guy is changing the ballast in the light fixture right behind me - fucking noisy as hell. I mean, shut the fuck up already.. I would rather have it be dark.

er.. umm. The Wooden Birds' "A Fact About Trains" has some great sounds of creaky leaf springs ...

1. Sound of Bowie stuffing poofy blond hair and baggy tan suit into closet; rejected as too silly an image even for Bowie. New Romantic dada harlequin suit selected instead. Original suit and hair retrieved when 15-minute shelf life of New Romantic fad expires.

2. Sound of Gene Simmons inserting codpiece and varnishing ego.

3. Desperate plea of innocent bystander dog to escape clutches of Perry Farrell before Lollapalooza devolves into county fair oldies circuit roadshow.

4. Floyd inflating giant airborne David Gilmour for stadium shows.
