I just realized that the Elite Team Of Living People, with their five vocalists, can do a ripsnorting version of NKOTB's "Step By Step."

The drummer I'm not entirely sure about, but the rest are Hot Snakes. Who do indeed rock.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 31 July 2003 00:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Millar, "Feel Good Time" was originally supposed to be a Beck/Orbit collab. That it turned out to be a P!nk song instead actually makes me less frustrated than I originally thought it would, seeing as how hearing his lyrics in a Top 40 pop context is a total coup on both sides of the fence: P!nk sings snarky weird lyrics, and Beck has a possible future as a part-time Brill Building beatnik. Everybody wins, except for pop fans who do not like Beck and Beck fans who do not like pop. But they don't matter.

My choices, separated into possible (aka all contemporaries) and impossible (aka key members are dead):

POSSIBLE: Indie-garage-psych All-Stars
Vocals/songwriters: Beck, Neko Case, Craig Finn
Guitar: Doug Martsch (lead), Nick Valensi (rhythm)
Bass: Bob Vennum (BellRays)
Drums: Steve Drozd
Organ: Sarah Stolfa (Delta 72)

IMPOSSIBLE: Maximum R&B
Vocals: Otis Redding
Guitar: Eddie Hazel (lead), Steve Cropper (rhythm)
Bass: John Entwistle
Drums: Keith Moon
Organ: Jimmy Smith
Horn section: Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker, Hugh Masekela

And as far as hip-hop goes, hearing El-P, Ghostface and Jay-Z trade verses to an Adam F junglified remix of a Timbaland instrumental would be tighter than tight.

ha ha ha! (sorry i don't know why i am laughing)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

A Black Dice / Voredoms colaboration would be cool in a few years after they're both more established in escaping their old sounds.

24 hours with the King of Snake. (SNAKE!) (ex machina), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

you people are all just choosing supergroups you'd like to see - but we need actual SUPERHEROES here! Therefore only costumed weirdos allowed:

bass - Bootsy Collins
guitar - Fred "Sonic" Smith
keys - Sun Ra
vocals - Blowfly
drums - Ken Pustelnik

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 19 May 2004 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm, ok here's mine then:

keys, vocals - Sun Ra
vocals, electronics, horns - Nate Young
drums, vocals - Brian Chippendale
drums, trumpet, vocals, electronic percussion - Yoshimi P-We
vocals, electronics - Ralf Hutter
vocals, electronics, turntable - Eye Yamataka
vocals, electronics - Florian Schneider

This would sound like MUSIC FOR A SOUNDTRACK FOR A FANTASTIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE STARS IN AN AWESOME RAINBOW SPACESHIP.

the polyphonic spree

My Underwear Is Melting (My Underwear Is Melting), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought this thread was going to be about ACTUAL actual superheroes. You know, like:

The Flash - drums (for obvious reasons)
Madrox the Multiple Man - vocals (because he can harmonize with himself)
The Juggernaut - bass (he looks like a bass player)
Reed Richards - keys (he could have thirty keyboards like Rick Wakeman and actually reach them all)

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Jordan wins!

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 19 May 2004 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

this is the first instance of blowfly that i've seen on ilm.
