i thought they hated each other?

Ha, in that TV news clip i saw just a short while ago, Garfunkel got to comment that the reason they are together is - "I really enjoy hanging out with this guy, Paul Simon".
From Simon, no words to the same effect, nope.

I bet it lasts a few shows and then abruptly ends.

Art is way better on his own anyway.

I would actually love to see this (with or without Little Art).

This is easily one of the groups I feel worst about not liking. Mainly because so many cool people I've met do. I'd be more exited about mini-Funkel and mini-Paul doing a show together, especially since mini-Paul would be 3 feet tall.

piscesboy, Thursday, 11 September 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I read that as 'hooker'.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 11 September 2003 10:58 (twenty-two years ago)

they don't hate eachother - if you've read any interviews with paul he says clearly that they've just known eachother for so long that it's hard for them to work together. the period when they were simon and garfunkel wasn't fulfilling for either but it seems to be what that public wants, and it feels good to them in doses. paul wants to be in control and art wants everything to sound beautiful and wants to go about it in the way he feels most comfortable (i.e. hearing paul's idea for a song/melody - - - then taking a few days/weeks to come up with his part, then they come back together and record the thing). it's obvious that their best stuff happened when neither were doing what they really wanted to do. paul says he enjoys rock and roll much more than the folk stuff he got into while in london in the sixties when the whole folk scene took off. all of that music was just a product of the time. sorry for such a long message - but i hate when people spout out with things like - don't they hate eachother? the myths surrounding celebrities...always astounding. but, fyi, it's a trend for them to get back together for an album or concert (sometimes for just a concert and then fail to follow through with a planned album) and then break up right after.

i think the world's getting a bit louder these days....and music's compensating/growing relatively. the new kings of convenience album: quiet is the new loud - - - - nonono. quiet is NOT the new loud - that's just ridiculous. quiet was the new loud, back with Bread and Simon and Garfunkel and so many others - the world needs noiseto be shaken up out of this complacency, indifference that's spreading indefinitely. the sixties were a time of sit-ins and peace - that was good for them - (by the way, i'm not saying that i'm not pro-peace, really i am - but there's a time and a place and a season....) - i think its time for the riot.
