http://www.metal-sludge.com/JaniVomitsOnBar.htmWe knew something was up as soon as we heard about Jerry Dixon having "back problems" and having to cancel the tour, when we also got an email that said Jani was very drunk that night. Well, this email came in from somebody who actually works at the bar Warrant played at in Wooster, Ohio. If anybody has any doubts about this, call the club themselves.
Metal Sludge,
Do you want to know what really happened at the Warrant show in Wooster, Ohio, last week? I work at the club and the fact that Warrant is trying to say that Jerry Dixon is injured instead of what really happened is totally insulting. The real story is this. Jani Lane was doing shot after shot of tequilla long before Warrant hit the stage. By the time Warrant started their set, it was clear he was pretty wasted. Jani took a few 'long breaks' during the set while the band jammed and went back to the bar to do more shots. Finally, Jani left the stage again, walked up to the bar, and threw up all over it! The bartenders and everyone sitting in the nearby vicinity literally had to run for cover! We all saw this and I've seen a lot of drunk people in my time, but this was completely out of control. Jani then staggered out of the club's back door, throwing up the whole way to the parking lot. Needless to say, he didn't return to the stage for the rest of the night, leaving the rest of the band to jam with their guitarist Billy Morris on vocals and with a set cut short.
My bosses, the club owners, were infuriated at Jani's lack of professionalism and alcohol tolerance, and it's highly unlikely Warrant will ever perform at our venue again. We've had bands play here before and have never seen such an embarrassing episode. There is no back injury to Jerry Dixon. Their tour was cancelled because of Jani's unprofessional attitude and inability to control his alcohol intake. Thank you.
So much for Jani being on the wagon!
Did Warrant really think that they could make up a story and the truth wouldn't get out? Have they heard of the internet? Anything that goes on today, especially in public, is going to get out!!! If Jani Lane is throwing up on a bar, and there are a bunch of people around, the story is going to be told. That's common sense. Club owners are going to tell other club owners about their troubles with Warrant and everybody is going to know what happened.
We've said this before and we'll say it again, but Jani Lane should not be touring, he should not be on the road, and he should have a year long stay in the Betty Ford center! We're not even trying to be funny here. If we get an email one day that says Jani Lane has died, we're not going to be surprised because it almost sounds like the guy is trying to kill himself. This guy has been given numerous chances to get his shit together and he just can't do it. In July, Jani told Mitch Lafon, “It’s one thing if you’re battling something or have a personal problem. It’s another thing if you don’t try to do something about it. That’s where responsibility comes in. It’s either that or kill yourself. I’ve had my nights where I’ve been lucky to make it back in one piece. I had my own little personal battle with alcohol and it’s something that I really had to work thru. Getting sober is a difficult thing to do, but I’m doing great. My health is great. I went thru that phase of real heavy drinking and it wasn’t fun for me. I’m happier now. I’m 100% clean and sober now and hoping I don’t fall off the wagon any time soon. Jerry (Dixon – bass player) is not drinking this tour either and we’re going to be keeping a dry backstage and a dry bus on the road this summer.” Actions speak louder than words and it's obvious Jani has a very long way to go before he's healthy. The guy needs to disappear for a while and come back only when he's able to be productive and healthy.
But will the happen? Probably not. Obi Steinman will put Warrant out on the road again, and the rest of Warrant will go along with whatever Obi and Jani say, and this cycle will continue until something drastic happens. They've been doing this for years now and you'd think they'd learn, but they're just making the same mistakes over and over and over again. It's gotten to the point where you can't even feel sorry for them because they bring this all on themselves. It's pathetic. So next time you go to support Warrant, think about what you are supporting.
