Manchester avant-folk duo George debut record The Magic Lantern, sounding like a very interesting find. Imagine some strange mixing of Tom Waits, the Animal Collective and Kate Bush. Has anyone heard this?

I've been searching for this actually. I've only managed to find one song, "The Track Through the Woods". It wasn't overly impressive, but it did sound like my style...

have they learned how to sing yet? i've got their singles on Earworm and Bad Jazz, both of which tend towards the painful..

You can buy the album online there as well as reading the glowing reviews it's been getting! Also there's an EP out in the next couple of months on a spanish label, lejos-discos.com

if you like george and piano magic, also look out for an album that came out last year called "Arbol" on Rocket Girl records- Suzy Mangion of George sings and Miguel Marin formerly of P.M. does the lazy electronic thing.

six years pass...

This album is so so good. Most unfairly slept-on artist in forever? I need to track down their other stuff and Suzy's solo record.
