Is it just me, or is "Scandinavian Leather" not up to par with "Ass Cobra" and "Apocalypse Dudes"?

It's good, better than a lot of albums I've bought recently, but I think A.C. and A.D. blow it away, it's like they slowed everything down for this one.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 14 September 2003 06:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Sunday morning here.

I just watched The Fast and the Furious.

AD was better than AC, and probably better than SL.

they're playing detroit on the 22nd.

Go see them. I saw them last night (well, actually night before last, seeing that it's Sunday now), and it was far beyond totally awesome. It was the most movement in a crowd I have ever seen at the Black Cat (where people mostly stand with their arms crossed and bob their heads). Also, they were totally awesome live. Also, watch out when they play "Drenched in Blood" because Hank throws a bucket of fake blood out into the crowd and it stinks like a motherfucker and if you turn your head to avoid getting it in the face you'll be cleaning it out of your (inner) ear with Q-tips for the next 2 days.

The new one is the worst album they've done. And it's still okay.

One of the more annoying things developed in the last twenty years that one can do to a rock crowd using the rationalization that
anything goes.

Mine camp -- -- crypto homosex joke metal band slogging it
out in America.

"Ass Cobra" sounded better to me.

Iggy would argue that that rationalization has been in 0lace longer than twenty years, I would say.

Wha'...?

Me too. Still, I had fun when I saw them... there again I didn't get D.I.B. innit...

absolutely fucking fantastic band. haven't heard the new one, though a Danish friend of mine assures me that while it's far from their best, it's still pretty damn good.

ham on rye (ham on rye), Monday, 15 September 2003 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Definitely not up to par, it's about half good. Drenched in Blood is still a fantastic song though. It beats the absolute shit out of the Hellacopters' last album though.

WHAT BAND ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!

mkcvmklsdc (King Kobra), Monday, 15 September 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Kylie Minogue.

I started running into it at concerts twenty years ago. GWAR
was big on ruining the clothes of patrons. And the art band
that would become GWAR -- forget the name, remember the stunt
-- tossed a stillborn goat carcass into the fray.

Prior to that, I never saw it regularly. Didn't count spitting on
the audience; you can't deliver enough of it to be truly annoying
unless you equip the band with chewing gum on the bus ride in
and collect the expectorant in cans. (An old wrestling team trick.)

Alice Cooper tossed a chicken into a crowd, a spur of the moment
thing he seemed to later regret, although it was good publicity.

Never saw Gene Simmons get any of his chaw on anything but himself,
the stage floor and his bass.

two months pass...
OK, I haven't heard the other Turbonegro records (and SHAME ON ME), but I'm really into this album, and am debating on whether to put this or the Scene Creamers' I Suck On That Emotion in the #10 slot on my P&J ballot. (Probably goin' with Svenonious an' pals here, but still.)

Was doing a bit of research on Scandinavian Leather, though, and... oh for fuck's sake.

(yeah yeah I know, dead horse, but still)

nate detritus (natedetritus), Saturday, 22 November 2003 20:50 (twenty-two years ago)

(and actually I might put Kid606 in that #10 slot. Or Lyrics Born. Fuck, I dunno.)
