For the longest time, my grandfather, Greek in origin, always was hinting that he had a masterplan for music that would resonate with the entire world. He always had me very curious for the longest time. One day, he spilled the beans...

he wanted to commission a song that was a mother's song for her sons in war, a prayer for them. He vowed that this song would be internationally known, and "all the mothers in the world would buy it".

My grandfather was a bit odd.. he had a strange contempt for women (he never really treated my grandmother and mother very well at all), but somehow was very strongly attached to his mother -- even though she was very horrible to him most of his life.

heh, i didn't mean for this to be too poignant a thread; i just wanted to provide a little bit of interesting background and context to supplement my grandfather's pop song idea.

(More interested in ideas from one's family members who aren't in the industry, so to speak)

Me and my sis used to make up imaginary bands all the time, one being 'The Tapeworms'

This morning we were watching the parents dropping their tots off at the fake-Montessori school across the street, and my dad started singing, "It's just a glorified daycare... it's just a glorified daycare!" It was quite the jaunty little tune.
