So I've been gone for a while and I come back to find the JB Arabesque show is sold out. On to Craiglist and someone with an Oklahoma area code is trying to sell me tix?! Anyone got? Wanna share?

Er, they want me to Wetern Union them $80 for two tickets, does this seem sketchy to anyone else?

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 17 September 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

YES.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 17 September 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean yes it seems sketchy. I would also like to share but not if it involves Western Unioning some psychos out-of-state--it just seems like a recipe for losing our $80!

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 17 September 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, not only losing our $$, but giving them my credit card number:(

I guess the name of his company, he said it was Tickets. Sounds very official.

Maybe you and I should stand outside Fri night and prey upon someone's mercy, Ally....

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 17 September 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"Tickets"!! Oh now this is just silly...he's quite sketchy, I wouldn't go for it I don't think. I'm sure someone in the area is selling tickets. It's just that Western Union has no recall whatsoever to handle this if you send him the money that way, so it's just not a good idea. I think standing outside Fri is just a good idea regardless, worse comes to worse we just walk down to a bar.

Yeah, it's all too cumbersome, I only Craig's List if it's an actual person, not some kind of Kansas City Machine. You know this is at East 59th St., Ally? Frances Gould Hall. Frenchy.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 17 September 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I had no idea this was even going on :( :(

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 17 September 2003 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Zoe knew about it--I wonder if she has tix...?

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 17 September 2003 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I may get in with a friend's +1 tomorrow. i hope so. Sad my wife (who also loves Serge/Jane) can't come. Hee hee.

I like the Arabesque record, too. Good to hear "Elisa" draaaagged out a bit and made to sound less jaunty.

You don't sound very sad, now.

I knew Jane Birkin only as the frumpy old actress who appeared in two 1980s and 1990s films of Jacques Rivette. To discover that she had been a glamorous pop singer just a few years previously has been quite a shock.

What an icon. Everything she did (music, film, fashion, being a cool mom) seemed so graceful and charming. Brave lady, too.

I had to give Di Doo Dah a spin this morning.

RIP Jane B.

Yeah she was so cool and charming. For a French person my age, as a kid growing in the 70s/80s she was such a familiar personality, basically part of the culture/background.
