Graham Maby is a monster indeed. I can’t think of enough good things to say about him.

The phrase "at the height of their powers" is overused but.... well, I'd love to have been at these shows.

I know a guy who used to play in a trio with Graham Maby and Marshall Crenshaw, but I never saw them play (it was before I knew him) and never wangled an introduction to Graham.

was able to catch the final "Joe Jackson Band" tour '03 I think, Joe left the stage for a couple mins while Graham took an incredible extended bass solo over...I'm the Man? only for Joe to return flabbergasted yelling "what the fuck?!" at the audience before launching into the last chorus, hundreds of middle aged folks pogo'ing on a spring loaded dance floor, have never seen the like since, so good

I saw him on the Big World tour--must have been 86. He was a solid performer and had a really good band (including Vinnie Zummo), and I loved his arrangements, but he came across as prickly, and was a total dick to the other musicians on stage.

Vinnie Zummo another big talent.

This record really shows his adaptability and arrangement skills, but the one standout track is the simplest: his piano/drums version of "One to One".

pretty certain that clip was from The Greek in LA, 1982 the first concert i ever went to. Marshall Crenshaw was opener

i saw him at the calderone concert hall on long island in august 1979. a radio broadcast of that show makes the rounds. if you listen close you can hear me scream out the name of my band at the time "broken hearts." still not sure why i did that -- it's unlike me.
