Don't think we've had a thread about this song yet. Man, I love this.

Somebody's gotta straighten my don't-listen-to-the-radio-but-like-5-minutes-a-day-at-most-and-hasn't-had-cable-for-2-years ass out though; are there many other songs out there with beats like this mixing Jamaican rhythms and Indian samples? And if so, what are some good examples? (Cuz I LOVED this beat totally.)

Nickalicious, check out:

R Kelly - Snake (plus especially anything on the Baghdad riddim which nicks from this, eg Vybz Kartel's "Charm Di Gal")
Sean Paul - Head Fi Toe (on the Trifector riddim)
Vybz Kartel - Fashion (on the Hindu Storm riddim)
Sean Paul - Samfy I (on the Glue riddim)
Elephant Man - Fuck U Sign (on the Sign riddim)

I never saw this. Great tune. I still like it after about 200 times!

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 03:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah it has a pretty modest momentum which I like, it never really crests obnoxiously like it could. Good song, though my ears are calling for a Sean Paul moratorium after this summer. Too much.

DarrensCoq, Tuesday, 16 December 2003 03:47 (twenty-two years ago)

It's likability is a modest momentum too. At first I was kind of like "enh" but slowly it's grown on me.

(My ears need to be worn in a bit to Sean Pauls voice, and this song brought me back to liking that Blu Cantrell song and Get Busy)

I want a version of that track with that weird Indian interlude from the video where Beyonce is writhing in the sand.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I just want Beyonce writhing in the sand (where "the sand" is actually "my lap").

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

challah bakk

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah i was thinking that any sentence that ends with "beyonce writhing in the sand" really sort of nullifies itself.

amateur!st (amateurist), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i jus luv da baby boy song!!! i also put it on my xanga!!!!

Gaby, Monday, 22 December 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i didn't like this at all at first but it doesn't seem so bad now

stevem (blueski), Monday, 22 December 2003 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd been taught from a young age never to trust people with two first names.

However, "Beyonce" doesn't even have one, so this still sound like it's going to be some vapid pop shite anyway.

Sasha (sgh), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 06:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh give UP

Darryl Steven-Stewart, Friday, 9 April 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 9 April 2004 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

six years pass...

how is it that i did not realise until last night that beyoncé sings the actual lyric "let's conceive an angel" in this

it was close before, but that may have just confirmed this as my favourite beyoncé solo single
