I was thinking of asking this before i saw the GQ list thread (honest), but here it goes anyway...

1. Deftones - White Pony: A "nu-metal" band that tries to emulate The Cure and Depeche Mode, rather than Korn or whatever. The results, i think, are pretty damn enjoyable

these choices seem too typical to be even the typical answers.
they certainly are perfect for an mtv promo ad.

a trite 'walk the high school hallway' bit.

clique soundtracks, what have you.

basically, i think they reflect the end of the 90's too much to actually represent the now (whatever that is) and what's to come. they're like 90's overflow.
