But while we're on the subject, can someone please define 'rockist'? I'm completely confused about whether it means someone who's pro- or anti-rock, and in what way. Reading that recent thread where everyone accused everyone else of being rockist didn't enlighten me at all.

colin, if you look at the thread categories, there is a category for rockism. Try some of the threads under that heading.

It doesn't necessarily mean holding rock to be better than other genres, or even liking rock in particular. "Rockism" as it is commonly used here refers to a set of values commonly associated with rock music (but potentially carrying over into other genres).

I used to believe it was basically meaningless, but I have changed my mind, at least some of the time. It does get abused and I still don't particularly like it.
